Parkland Students React to New Video of Shooter: ‘STOP SHOWING HIS F***ING FACE’
The student activists from Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School have two requests: First, don’t show the newly publicized cell phone video of the shooter who killed 17 people at their school on February 18, and second, don’t say his name.
A video the shooter took of himself before the massacre was released by authorities on Wednesday, horrifying people nationwide. In it, the 19-year-old former Stoneman Douglas student boasted he would be the “next school shooter of 2018” and aimed to kill 20 people.
“When you see me on the news, you’ll all know who I am,” he said.
The survivors of the shooting — on both sides of the gun debate — responded swiftly and decisively to the publication of the video, asking that its dissemination be quashed:
I tortured myself & watched videos of the shooter talking about his attack on my school.
Here’s what I’ve gathered:
A great way to stop school shootings is to NEVER MENTION the shooter’s name or give them notoriety. He discussed how the world will know who he is. He wanted this

The Parkland shooter’s name is trending #1 in multiple areas because of a video’s release where he said that notoriety is what he wanted… When will people learn?

Prominent Parkland activist David Hogg had a concrete suggestion for how to deal with the video if it should show up in your midst:
Anytime you see a news outlet post their name tag it with #NoNoteriety https://t.co/Jp0eKy647w
