President Donald Trump was on the warpath once again Thursday morning — lashing out at NBC News on Twitter for their report that Secretary of State Rex Tillerson called Trump a “f*cking moron.”
“This is Fake News put out by @NBCNews,” the President wrote. “Low news and reporting standards. No verification from me.”
Just as she did a day earlier, MSNBCs Stephanie Ruhle — who contributed to the Tillerson report — offered an impassioned defense of her work. Specifically, Ruhle took issue with Trump’s charge that the network did not verify their report with him.
“Sir, we didn’t need [you] to verify that he called you a moron,” Ruhle said. “He did it behind your back.”
Ruhle believes Tillerson is in hot water for not showing fealty to Trump in the same manner as other members of the Cabinet.
“Has it not always chafed the president that compare Rex Tillerson to, say, [treasury secretary] Steve Mnuchin?” Ruhle asked. “Steve Mnuchin is willing to go on television and say absolutely anything. This is a man who has said President Trump has near perfect genes. Does that not annoy the president that Rex stops short of that? He said it. It’s mind-blowing.”
