Susan Sarandon: GOP Won’t Elect Trump Because Republicans Aren’t ‘All Bad’ or ‘All Crazy’

Speaking to The Young Turks in a video interview posted Wednesday morning, Oscar-winning actress Susan Sarandon explained why she “can’t believe for a second that America would actually make Donald Trump the president.” Republicans, she said, “are not all bad. They’re not all crazy. They’re not all greedy.”

She said she knew that there were “very sane Republicans” who “must be so embarrassed by what’s going on right now.”

She alternately described Trump as a “drunk uncle at a wedding” and “a figure from a Kurt Vonnegut novel.”

Her real concern, she said, was that he had normalized hatred and racism, bringing to the fore an “undercurrent of discontent that’s looking to blame somebody.” She added: “He’s legitimized those feelings, and that, I think, is a very dangerous thing.”
