This morning, Donald Trump has been hyping up a press conference that was slated to begin at 11:oo a.m. EST from Trump Tower. Now, the purpose of that conference has been made clear: Trump is fighting back at the headlines generated by what appear to be inflated claims of how much he made — and subsequently donated — during fundraisers purportedly meant for veterans’ organizations.
Trump claimed again that he has raised over $6 million for veterans, although those claims were denied by his own people. Namely, Corey Lewandowski himself said that the total raised was $4.5 million. Still, Trump claimed $6 million today, then said that he had simply been trying to keep the fundraising quiet and private.
He went on to say that the media should be ashamed for making him look bad and for disrespecting the veterans. He insisted that vets have been calling him to thank him constantly.
“I have never received such bad publicity for doing such a good job,” he said.
