Today in Totally Normal: Rick Perry Rocked a Backwards Hat and DJ’ed for Vanilla Ice

To celebrate the big season finale of Dancing With the Stars, the show welcomed back to the performing stage not just one special guest from the past, but two: Vanilla Ice — who got booted from the most recent season of the show in October, and former Texas Governor Rick Perry, whose ambitions of winning the coveted Mirrorball Trophy were dashed in September.

But that didn’t stop the duo from hitting the Grove in Los Angeles with a mean rendition of ‘Ice Ice Baby’ featuring the one-time Presidential candidate and possible Trump cabinet member DJ’ing in the background.

At the conclusion of the performance, Perry made sure to join his good pal up front for some sweet fist bump action. “I think everybody in here’s a teenager tonight!” said Vanilla Ice to the cheering crowd.

Erin Andrews however interestingly steered the conversation towards politics, asking Perry to pick which event was more surreal: the live performance with Mr. Ice or his “big meeting in New York yesterday.”

“Can I take ‘no comment’ on that at the moment?” Perry asked, before playing along. “Being with Vanilla Ice is always number one!”

Welp, if it’s not surreal for Rick Perry, it’s certainly strange as all hell for the rest of us. When Perry and his partner Emma Slater were booted earlier in the season, the former Texas Governor said about the experience, “I was able to talk about those veterans issues that really brought me to the show to begin with… We’re here tonight enjoying America’s pastime because somewhere along the way there was some young American who served and kept us free.”
