Trump Place Apartment Complex Will Change Name Following Online Petition

trump-placeThose protests going on across the country are a fair indication of how angry people are about Donald Trump winning the election, and at least one complex with his name on the side of the building is changing its name after pressure.

There is a petition on Change.org with 600 signatures demanding the removal of “TRUMP PLACE” from buildings in New York along Riverside Boulevard for many reasons, including that “many of the staff members of our building are minorities or immigrants; working in a building bearing his name is insulting to them.”

They also say that since Trump is leasing his name to the buildings, “part of our rent is being used to increase Trump’s net worth.”

The petition was spread around with #DumptheTrumpName, and apparently it was successful.

According to multiple reports, the name will actually be dropped in response:

The three buildings will drop the name of the president-elect in favor of their street addresses, 140, 160 and 180 Riverside Boulevard, according to a spokesman for complex manager Equity Residential.

“We are assuming a more neutral building identity that will appeal to all current and future residents,” said company spokesman Marty McKenna.

Now only time will tell if this happens to any other Trump building…
