Utah Senator Mike Lee Pleads With Trump Via Facebook Video: ‘Step Aside, Step Down’
“If anyone spoke to my wife or my daughter or my mother or any of my five sisters the way [Donald Trump] has spoken to women, I wouldn’t hire that person. I wouldn’t hire that person, wouldn’t want to be associated with that person, and I certainly don’t think I’d feel comfortable hiring that person to be the leader of the free world.”
That’s a quote from the scathing anti-Trump video posted by Utah’s senator Mike Lee tonight in response to the comments made by the Republican nominee about women in 2005 and leaked today by the Washington Post.
He went on to say that while the women Trump insulted were not his sisters or anyone related to him, he still couldn’t back the GOP’s candidate.
“You, Sir, are the distraction!” he said in response to Trump’s buck-passing apology tonight, during which he claimed that the focus on his past comments is just a distraction that will help Democratic opponent Hillary Clinton.
Then, he begged Trump to step aside so that Republicans can win in November because “there is no need for us to settle.”
The GOP fissure continues as we get closer and closer to November 8.
