WATCH LIVE: President Trump Signs Executive Order to Decrease Military Suicides

President Donald Trump will once again sign an executive order later today, and you can watch live, above, at 1:45 pm EST.

Today’s executive order, his 57th since taking office, is called “Supporting our Veterans During Their Transition From Uniformed Service to Civilian Life.”

Veterans Affairs Secretary David Shulkin told reporters that this order is an attempt to reduce the number of suicides among veterans.

Shulkin, however, was mum on the actual contents of the order — suggesting that much of it has yet to be ironed out, despite it being signed this afternoon.

The order is assumed to increase mental health options for veterans and the cost “will be in the magnitude of a couple hundred million dollars per year,” though Shulkin noted that the money will come from pre-existing sources.

It has also been stated that the order will expand a Defense Department program called Military OneSource, to allow veterans to access it for a full year after leaving the military, rather than 180 days. The program offers mental health counseling, in which veterans are encouraged to discuss everything from relationships and deployments to maintaining a budget.

The VA recently reported that appozimately 22 veterans take their own life every day in the United Stated.
