White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders will meet the press corps in a briefing set for 2:00 p.m. ET.
What will be on today’s docket? Sanders will likely be forced to address Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia investigation, particularly his rumored forthcoming meeting with President Donald Trump in which he is likely to question the president on the firing of James Comey and the alleged transgressions of former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn.
On the notion of obstruction, Sanders is likely to get several questions regarding yesterday’s big reveal that Trump allegedly asked acting FBI director Andrew McCabe who he voted for during a meeting in the Oval Office.
The press secretary should also face a question or two about Trump’s continued silence on yesterday’s Kentucky high school shooting, which left two students dead and 18 more injured.
There’s also the lingering question of DACA and immigration reform and whether or not these issues will lead to another government shutdown in three weeks. Sen. Chuck Schumer, after all, has revoked a deal to allocate funding for Trump’s long-promised southern border wall.
Of course, there’s still the whole Stormy Daniels thing, with evangelical leader Tony Perkins appearing on CNN to say that religious leaders are giving Trump a “mulligan” regarding his past sexual transgressions.
