Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders is scheduled to give a press briefing not even an hour since the news broke that the White House Communications Director Anthony Scaramucci was fired after just being appointed to that position a little more than a week ago.
Watch the press briefing live, scheduled to start at 3:45 p.m. EST.
The New York Times broke the news that President Donald Trump fired Scaramucci Monday, according to “three people close to the decision.” Scaramucci became the Communications Director just 10 days ago. His appointment caused a shake up in the White House, including causing Press Secretary Sean Spicer to resign the same day. A week after the switch up, White House Chief of Staff Reince Priebus was replaced with John Kelly. The briefing is sure to be filled with questions on all the White House staff changes, most importantly the Scaramucci firing.
Despite his short time at the White House, Scaramucci made the most of his days, or made the most headlines in his days. The Mooch made his first big headline when he started his “War on Leakers” Tuesday, saying he planned to fire assistant press secretary Michael Short. Short resigned later that day. Wednesday night Scaramucci first tweeted and then deleted a tweet that Priebus as being a White house leaker, saying he was “contacting the FBI and DOJ.”
That news carried over into Thursday, when Scaramucci called into New Day for a 30-minute rant to Chris Cuomo about the White House leaks, saying him and the President knew who was leaking information. The day only got worse for him though, in which a portion of an interview was released of an unhinged Scaramucci calling Priebus a “f–king paranoid schizophrenic,” threatened to fire the entire communications staff, and said “I’m not Steve Bannon, I’m not trying to suck my own cock.”
Friday looked to be a good day for Mooch, when it was announced that “the-Abel-to-his-Cain” Priebus had resigned and would be replaced by Kelly. However, that was also the day it was announced that his wife was divorcing him and that he missed the birth of his child to be at Trump’s speech to the Boy Scouts.
As our own Aidan McLaughlin said, it was a “Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Week” for Scaramucci.
