Fox Sports Host Wears Paper Bag Over Head After Picking Nets to Beat Celtics: ‘I’ve Been Hoodwinked’

Everybody’s favorite upset pick of the NBA playoffs, the Brooklyn Nets, are on the cusp of being swept by the Boston Celtics in the first round. Rather than wait for Game 4 Monday night, some sports personalities are getting ahead of the curve and admitting defeat, including Fox Sports’ Chris Broussard, who donned a paper bag over his head in shame.

On Monday’s edition of First Things First, co-host Kevin Wildes asked Broussard if the Nets could turn the series around. His reaction said all you need to know about their chances.

“Does this answer your question, Wildes?” Broussard said, putting a paper bag with a sad face on his head, causing Wildes and Nick Wright to chuckle.

“I’m done with these boys,” Broussard continued. “They are done, all right? Finito, toast, gone fishing, 1-3 Cancun, however you want to slice it. The nets are done, and I am done with them. This is embarrassing.”

The conversation carried on for a few minutes as Broussard explained how the Nets and stars Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving let him down this postseason.

“I said, when push comes to shove, and the defense knows exactly what you’re doing, you need a guy that can break down the defense, preferably a couple. They’ve got them and they’ve disappeared,” Broussard said. “Kyrie and KD have been outplayed by Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown and it’s not even close. In the clutch, throughout the three quarters and defensively. The other guys have been fine, Nick. The defense hasn’t been that bad.”

“But the bottom line is, this is their superstars. And here’s what it looks like, and this to me makes it worse. Look, if you are a Nets fan or Nets executive, you have to hope that maybe KD and Kyrie will learn from this, that maybe they’ll be humble. Because, what they look like is a couple of arrogant know-it-alls who are having their foot stuck in their mouth,” Broussard stated.

The bit was apparently so good, the morning show pulled it twice, regurgitating it later in the show.

“I’ve been had guys, I’ve been took. I’ve been hoodwinked, bamboozled, let astray, run amok, this is ridiculous!” Broussard exclaimed in the second rendition.
