‘Stand There and Stare Like a Sociopath!’ SNL Roasts Trump’s Reaction to Man Fainting in Oval Office
President Donald Trump was skewered in Saturday Night Live’s cold open for his reaction to a man fainting in the Oval Office on Thursday.
In a four-minute sketch to kick off Saturday night’s show, James Austin Johnson — playing Trump — broke the fourth wall and addressed viewers directly, while standing several feet away from the man who had just fainted and not acting concerned for his wellbeing in any way.
“Oh, hi!” Trump said. “Didn’t see you there. Someone was dying in my office. I think I’m playing this very normal. Just stand there and stare like a sociopath. Didn’t even pretend like I was gonna help.”
The sketch also went after Robert F. Kennedy Jr. — who was seen speeding away from the scene. (The White House says he was attempting to get medical help.)
“How about RFK, huh?” Trump said. “Booked it out of here like someone was trying to give him a vaccine! Brainworm, take the wheel!”
That quip was followed by a jab about the White House demolition.
“Each week, I like to create a big visual that sort of sums up how things are going,” Trump said. “Last week, it was the demolishing of the East Wing. This week, it’s a medical professional almost dying in my Oval Office at the mere thought of charging less for drugs. Maybe next week, a bald eagle will fall dead out of the sky and splat right on the White House lawn. And by ‘lawn,’ of course, I mean big outdoor concrete floor!”
Finally, there was a shot at the president’s own health.
“A guy collapsing in the Oval Office,” Trump said. “Who’d have thought it’d be not me?”
