WATCH: White Sox Lose in Brutal Fashion After Game-Tying Runner Gets Injured Rounding Third Base

The Chicago White Sox lost on a play that should have seen them score the game-tying run after a player was injured before reaching home plate on Wednesday.
In the top of the ninth inning of Wednesday’s game against the Cleveland Guardians, the White Sox trailed 3-1. With two outs and the bases loaded, third baseman Miguel Vargas hit a single into left field. With the baserunners taking off as soon as the ball was put into play, a base hit virtually guaranteed that at least two runs would score and the game would go into the bottom of the ninth.
Shortstop Jacob Amaya scored easily from third. It looked as though right fielder Mike Tauchman was going to do the same from second, but he nearly came to a stop just feet away from home plate and was tagged out — giving the Guardians the third and final out for the win. After being tagged out, Tauchman threw his helmet down in frustration and dropped to his knees.
A wider angle of the action revealed Tauchman suddenly started limping as he rounded third base. The injury slowed his sprint to a light jog, and Tauchman stopped right in front of the catcher when he realized he wasn’t going to make it.
Wednesday was just Tauchman’s third game of the season. He was previously on the injured list for the same hamstring he re-injured against the Guardians.
