After Trump Says He’d ‘Love’ a Shutdown, Sarah Sanders Says ‘We Are Not Advocating’ for a Shutdown

President Trump said earlier this afternoon that he’d “love” to see a shutdown, but Sarah Huckabee Sanders downplayed those remarks during this afternoon’s press briefing by saying he’s just “encouraging people to do their jobs.”

The last shutdown, she said, was the fault of Democrats who “held the government hostage,” and she insisted Trump “isn’t looking for this” but just wants Democrats to come to the table.

When pressed further, Huckabee Sanders said, “We are not advocating for the shutdown, that’s the fault of the Democrats not being willing to do their jobs.”
