There was an interesting moment today on America’s Newsroom when Sandra Smith asked Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) to elaborate on his statements regarding President Donald Trump‘s meeting with North Korean Kim Jong Un.
Rubio attracted a great deal of attention yesterday when he got on Twitter to bash the “incredible hypocrisy of many in media” for criticizing Trump after giving positive coverage to Barack Obama‘s 2013 meeting with Cuba’s Raul Castro. However, Rubio also slammed Trump both for suggesting a withdrawal of U.S. troops from South Korea, and for showing praise on the North Korean despot.
This tweet particularly drew in the intrigue:
One more thing about KJU. While I know @potus is trying to butter him up to get a good deal, #KJU is NOT a talented guy. He inherited the family business from his dad & grandfather. He is a total weirdo who would not be elected assistant dog catcher in any democracy.

As Rubio spoke to Fox News today with his latest thoughts on the Singapore summit, Smith noted how he criticized both Trump and Kim in his tweet, so she asked him to “clarify.”
Rubio said he had “nothing to clarify,” explaining that Trump was elected into office while Kim inherited his power from a dynasty of dictatorship.
“Their government is a cult, it’s almost religious-like in its cult-like elements, it’s a very strange and weird place,” Rubio said. “It is what it is, and I’m not going to ignore that reality. That’s just a fact, these are not things that I’m making up, they are real.”
