Fox News’ Howard Kurtz Rips ‘Intense Media Reaction’ to Hannity: People Just Wildly Speculating

Fox News’ Howard Kurtz again today addressed the big media controversy last week concerning his colleague Sean Hannity‘s relationship with Trump lawyer Michael Cohen.

Kurtz was critical of Hannity for not disclosing that connection, but also defended Hannity from some of the attacks against him. Fox News issued a statement saying they stand by him.

Wall Street Journal reporter Shelby Holiday said that there’s clear “ethical and legal questions surrounding why Hannity didn’t reveal” that relationship. She agreed with Alan Dershowitz that Hannity should have disclosed in the first place.

Kurtz was struck by the “intense media reaction” in some corners to Hannity’s Cohen connection, slamming the wild speculation (particularly from people who went on TV wondering if Hannity was involved in paying off women) and saying, “You can’t make stuff up.”

Holliday said some people clearly enjoyed “taking some swings at Hannity,” though she said the Fox News host may have “fueled some of this himself” because of how he went after the media for covering it.
