The teenage woman who received crude messages from Anthony Weiner last year is speaking out in her first TV interview since the scandal broke.
The girl was willing to show her face for an interview with Inside Edition, though the program withheld her name due to her status as a minor. The teen said her first exchanges with Weiner happened through Twitter last year in January, and it didn’t take long before the disgraced former Congressman took things to an unsettling place.
“I just sent him a nice message, ‘Hello, I’m a huge fan,'” the girl said. When Diana McInerney asked how long it took for Weiner to respond to the girl’s first message, the answer she received was “minutes.”
The girl said she was interested in connecting with Weiner due to his connection to Hillary Clinton through Huma Abedin. When asked how long it took before things got obscene, the girl said “I knew that it was going downhill really fast.”
“I was disgusted,” said the girl. “That’s part of the reason I came forward.”
Weiner’s repeated sexting scandals and his link to Clinton was a recurring conversation topic during the 2016 election. It was September of last year when the FBI seized electronic devices from Abedin and Weiner’s home during their investigation into his profane activities.
The subpoena led to the discovery of several emails where Abedin corresponded with Clinton on a home laptop. This prompted former FBI director James Comey to reopen his investigation into the former secretary of state’s private server scandal just days before the election.
