During Wednesday’s episode of The View, Joy Behar expressed hope that President Donald Trump doesn’t live much longer.
The View hosts spoke on Trump’s self-praise his administration’s handling of Puerto Rico’s recovery after Hurricane Maria last year. Sunny Hostin dominated most of this conversation, at one point accusing the government of allowing its own citizens to die from the storm and the aftermath.
Hostin’s co-hosts flinched in response to her “strong statement,” but Behar moved on to Bob Woodward‘s book as proof that Trump is incapable of telling the truth.
Behar called Trump a “sociopath” who will “never apologize,” and eventually said, “If he lives another 20 years — God forbid,” before stopping herself. “If he lives another 20 years, he could live to 105,” she added.
The View broke for commercials shortly after that, but Behar seemed aware of how her remarks might be taken, since she re-opened the show by saying what she meant was she doesn’t want Trump in office anymore.
“I don’t wish the president ill, I really don’t. I just want him out. I mean sometimes I hear him say things like, I could be president for life and it’s like, no! It’s really about that. I would never say something — I didn’t mean that, what I said.”
