Morning Joe Airs Montage of 2018 Women’s March Featuring Cringeworthy Scarborough Single
What better song to accompany a montage about a movement of women’s empowerment than a faux-country ditty written and crooned by MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough?
We can only assume this was Morning Joe’s logic when they chose Monday morning to showcase videos and images of the 2018 Women’s March to the soundtrack of Scarborough’s mainsplain-tastic new single, “Stand.”
As Scarborough sings about getting the opportunity to stand in front of tanks — referring to Tiananmen Square — the montage features Whoopi Goldberg saying, “Women have decided that they want to take back the conversation.”
The top of the clip shows footage of Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and House Speaker Paul Ryan, as well as Senator Chuck Schumer.
It also features Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, speaking at the Women’s March: “So that we can have a check on this president, I urge you to support Democratic candidates all across this country,” she exclaims.
And it appears Scarborough’s Morning Joe co-host and soon-to-be wife is onboard with his latest protest anthem, calling it “a song for our times” in a tweet:
I love it too. “Stand” by Scarborough is a song for our times. https://t.co/u3PqQ4MMv8
