Pompeo: The Idea Trump’s a Threat to National Security Is ‘Absolutely Ludicrous’
Secretary of State Mike Pompeo dismissed a new report in the New York Times that the FBI opened an inquiry into whether President Donald Trump was working on behalf of Russia after he fired James Comey.
CBS released the Face the Nation clip early today, in which anchor Margaret Brennan asked Pompeo for his reaction.
The Secretary of State said, “I’m not going to comment on New York Times stories, but I’ll certainly say this. The notion that President Trump is a threat to American national security is absolutely ludicrous.”
Brennan asked if he knew this was happening while he was CIA director. Pompeo again said the idea of this is “silly on its face and not worthy of a response.”
You can watch above, via CBS. The full interview airs tomorrow on Face the Nation.
