The View Raves About Buttigieg’s Fox Town Hall: Made Opponents Look ‘Ridiculous’ For Not Appearing
Morning Joe has already lauded South Bend, IN Mayor Pete Buttigieg following his Fox News town hall on Sunday night. Now, Mayor Pete is getting some more love on the Monday morning talk shows.
During The View‘s opening segment, the panel saluted him for appearing before a Fox News audience.
“I have believed from the beginning that Elizabeth Warren and… Kamala Harris — they were the ones who said they didn’t want to go to Fox — I think they should,” Joy Behar said. “Because when the Democrats don’t show up, they lose. Just like they did in Wisconsin and Pennsylvania last time when [President Donald] Trump got in. They need to show up. That’s my philosophy about anything in life, as a matter of fact. Show up!”
Sunny Hostin concurred.
“I think he echoed what we said at the table many times,” she said. “There are people that watch Fox News that do watch it in good faith. They watch it to get their information and get their news. You can’t always speak in an echo chamber. You’ve got to go into difficult spaces with people that don’t agree with you.”
“Didn’t the guy get a standing ovation?” Behar said.
“He got a standing ovation at the end of the town hall,” Hostin said. “And he did the right thing.”
Meghan McCain — the panel’s lone conservative Monday in Abby Huntsman‘s absence — dismissed some of Buttigieg’s ideas as “too left” for her taste. But overall, she praised the upstart candidate.
“He’s an incredibly ambitious politician with a huge future in front of him no matter what,” McCain said. “That was very evident last night. The cleanest, smoothest I’ve seen do a town hall on Fox.”
