Joe Scarborough: ‘I’ve Seen the Future of the Democratic Party and It’s Mayor Pete’
While the masses on Twitter seemed to have found the Game of Thrones series finale an underwhelming viewing experience, there was another less-hyped political event on television last night that is getting rave reviews: Fox News town hall featuring Pete Buttigieg.
Morning Joe co-host Joe Scarborough is one such raver, evidenced by his over-the-top praise for the South Bend mayor, ostensibly comparing his potential political impact to The Wild, the Innocent & E Street Shuffle era Bruce Springsteen.
Buttigieg’s standing ovation earning performance reminded Scarborough of what he called “one of the most famous lines by any rock critic in music history,” which was critic Jon Landau saying “I have seen the future of rock ‘N’ roll and it is Bruce Springsteen.”
Scarborough followed with “Well, I’ve seen the future of the Democratic Party and it’s Mayor Pete.” He then hedged a bit with “It may not be in 2020, perhaps it’s in 2024 and beyond, but this guy is going to play an important role in the mainstreaming of the Democratic Party for many years to come.”
