Tim Ryan Wows The View With 2020 Announcement: ‘Trump is Going Back to Mar-a-Lago Full Time!’
Rep. Tim Ryan (D-OH) electrified The View on Thursday when he used his appearance with the panel to make a 2020 declaration: “I’m going to run for President of the United States.”
Ryan made his announcement as he lamented job losses and business closures in his district, which led to him expressing hope that the rust belt could be revitalized with innovative policies focused on new industries and clean-energy expansions. As he touted his ability to appeal to midwestern voters disenfranchised by Democrats, Ryan bashed President Donald Trump by saying he represents the “old economy” and “has been full of promises and hasn’t delivered anything.”
“I’m a progressive who knows how to talk to working class people, I know how to get elected in working class districts because at the end of the day the progressive agenda is what’s best for working class families” Ryan said.
“We stopped going to working class towns…There is a recession in rural America and Democrats need to go there and explain why the progressive agenda is the agenda for them.”
Ryan shrugged off the possibility that some on the Left might not find him progressive enough, and argued for his ability to win back districts Democrats have lost in recent years.
“I can win Western Pennsylvania, I can win Ohio, I can win Michigan, I can win Wisconsin,” Ryan said. “That means Donald Trump is going back to Mar-a-Lago full time!” he exclaimed, drawing loud applause from The View studio.
