President Donald Trump, presumably after spending this shutdown morning housing a session of his favorite breakfast show, promised Fox & Friends host Steve Doocy that he would not cave on the border wall.
Touting support for border security, Trump quoted a line from Doocy, who said on Fox & Friends Thursday morning that the president’s supporters “do not want him to cave” on the wall.
“I won’t!” Trump told Doocy.

Doocy’s comment came during one of Fox & Friends‘ trademark diner segments, where weekend host Pete Hegseth interviews MAGA hat-clad patrons at diners across America. This particular segment, filmed from Corpus Christi, Texas, featured one Trump supporter agreeing with the president that there is a “crisis” at the border, and another calling the shutdown battle over the wall “a necessary fight.”
Doocy, reacting to the segment, noted Trump’s supporters “do not want him to cave.”
Fox & Friends co-host Brian Kilmeade pointed out that there are eminent domain questions regarding the private land needed to build the wall, and that Rep. Will Hurd (R-TX) has said the wall won’t work.
