Yale Classmate of Brett Kavanaugh Says He Didn’t Tell Whole Truth in Hearing: ‘He was a Sloppy Drunk’

A college classmate of Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh told CNN’s Chris Cuomo on Friday night that the Kavanaugh she remembers from their undergrad days was a “sloppy drunk.”

“What do you know about Brett Kavanaugh that he was not truthful about in the hearing?” Cuomo asked.

“I’ve known Brett since the very beginning of freshman year. He was always one of the beer drinking boys and I drank beer with him,” Liz Swisher, the former Kavanaugh friend and roommate of Debra Ramirez said.

She added: “There’s no problem with drinking beer in college. The problem is lying about it.”

Then further describing his college behavior she said, “He drank heavily. He was a partier. He liked to do beer bongs. He played drinking games. He was a sloppy drunk. He was more interested in impressing the boys than he was in impressing the girls. I never saw him be sexually aggressive but he definitely was sloppy drunk.”

Cuomo then asked her if she bought Kavanaugh’s testimony on Thursday about loving beer but nothing to excess.

“I don’t buy it. I didn’t — that’s not the Brett I knew,” she replied. “As soon as I met him in college. It’s not the Brett I saw during four years at Yale, and I don’t think many of his answers were credible. I really question any senator that believes the ‘ralph club’  had something to do with his known weak stomach. I knew of no weak stomach. That’s not what ralphing means to any college kid.”

Swisher then said that lying under oath amounted to “perjury.”

“I would have stayed on the sidelines if he said I drank to excess in high school,” Swisher said.”[If he said] I drank to excess in college. I did some stupid things, but I never sexually assaulted anybody. That I would have stayed on the sidelines for.”

“But to lie under oath, to lie about that, then what else is true?” the Kavanaugh classmate stressed. “To not know the difference between truth and lies…that’s just terrible.”

Swisher is not the first Yale classmate to come forward. On Thursday,  Kavanaugh classmate Lynne Brookes, a self-described Republican — also tore into Kavanaugh’s drinking claims, telling Cuomo, “There is no doubt in my mind that while at Yale he was a big partier, often drank to excess.”
