José Andrés may have had the best Fourth of July ever: he was invited to the White House and given the Outstanding American by Choice Award, honoring his recent naturalization.
The GW Hatchet reports that Andrés, who became a US citizen last November, was honored in a ceremony in which Barack Obama also naturalized several military veterans and their spouses. Andrés himself, a tireless advocate for immigration reform, received the award for his “commitment to our country and to the common civic values that unite us as Americans.”
