BARACK OBAMA WINS NOBEL PEACE PRIZE

obamasingingBig news from Norway: President Barack Obama has won the Nobel Peace Prize. Kind of puts that whole Chicago thing in perspective, eh? The prize was awarded for his “extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples.”

No doubt the cries of “USA! USA!” will be emanating from Rush Limbaugh’s radio show very soon. Seriously, this should be an interesting cable news cycle.

More at the AP here. This from the New York Times:

In a stunning surprise, the Nobel Committee announced Friday that it had awarded its annual peace prize to President Obama “for his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples” less than nine months after he took office…But the committee said it wanted to enhance Mr. Obama’s diplomatic efforts so far rather than reward him for events in the future.

If this isn’t the biggest joke of all. Obama did so much in his first two-three weeks in office (voting deadline was around then).

Also, he is in such great company along with American basher and hater Jimmy (I did a terrible deal with the North Koreans that let them have nukes), then the lying opportunist Albert Gore who has made hundreds of millions off his global warming scam.

Of course they never gave it to people who deserved it like Ronald Reagan who won the cold war and really made the world safer and more peaceful and ended the threat of nuclear annihilation. Didn’t give it to George W. Bush who liberated more Muslim people than anyone else.

Lets give it to losers like Carter, Gore and now Obama. Maybe he will donate the $1M prize to help pay down his 10 year/ $10 trillion debt!

Also, you know its bad when all the cable networks (even CNN) is mocking this victory. Well, except for Mika Brezenski. She wants to stay true to her full Kool Aid drunken self.

Why would there be cries of “USA, USA”? This isn’t about us, it’s about HIM, the One. He gets the Nobel Peace Prize, a once prestigious award (long ago), for words…..just words. It is more of an anti-USA/anti Bush award, given to the only President who travels the globe trashing his own country. Laughable.

Captain America is right — GWB liberated more Muslims than anyone, yet he is ignored by the Committee. They only diminish themselves and the award for giving it to a talker, not a doer.

What I find interesting about this award is how aspirational it is – like saying, we like what Obama is trying to do and what he represents, so we’re going to give it more heft by throwing our weight behind him. It’s a strange honor indeed based only on accomplishments.

Rachel, they’ve done something like this before. Gorbachev in 1990. Arafat, Perez and Rabin in 1994. They know what the prize means so they use it to promote what they consider to be good developments.

Nothing wrong with that. This prize is pretty broad and has been used in a variety of ways. Like for example it was Al Gore won it highlighting the strong connection between climate change and global politics, adding a new perspective into the more traditional notion of what was considered to constitute world peace.

How Badly Will Google Screw Up Your Gmail In Its Drive To Beat Facebook?

The grass is always greener in the digital world! First Facebook got all schizophrenic with homepate overhauls (and privacy setting catastrophes) in an attempt to be more like Twitter -- really, at this point, it's a bit of a crap shoot what your Facebook page may look like on a daily basis there have been so many overhauls. And now Google apparently wants to be the next Facebook.

Jenny Sanford is All Things to All Pundits

    video

The story of embattled political soon-to-be ex-wife Jenny Sanford is one of the rarest incidents in American politics: a story that both sides can spin to fit their narrative. Sanford went on a media tour to promote her new book, Staying True, that hit all three major cable news channels and the unofficial fourth power in journalism, The Daily Show. And despite the vast ideological gaps among the mediums, every interviewer wanted her on their team.
