Governor Andrew Cuomo, Same Sex Marriage, And The 2016 Presidential Campaign

Yep, that was no typo. 2016. Politico’s Ben Smith has looked over the mountain of the 2012 election to see what’s down the path, and he sees same sex marriage as a potentially huge issue in the race for the Democratic nomination. Smith says a conversation with Bob Shrum about “three or four Democrats already operating with an eye on the national stage” included a discussion of New York Governor Andrew Cuomo.

Cuomo, Smith writes, is “currently out stumping for, among other things, same-sex marriage, which he’s straightforwardly supported for several years. The measure stands a decent chance of passing the state legislature, particularly if he works it.”

In Shrum’s opinion marriage equality could be a key issue for Democrats in a general election–and Cuomo in the fight for the nomination:

“I don’t want to take anything away from the sincerity of his conviction on this and I assume it’s real, but if he’s thinking about a national campaign somehwere dow the road, he is in exactly the right place for a Democrat right now,” Shrum said. “If he actually gets this done in a big state like New York, it’ll be historic, it’ll be a landmark, and not only strengthen him with the gay constituency – which is important in Democratic politics – but also for younger voters.”

Bob Shrum is in a dead heat tie with Bill Press for the title of douchiest douchebag of the left wing bomb thrower set in this country.

Very interesting that even Shrum has read the writing on the wall regarding the impending Obama defeat in 2012.

So much does he believe it, he’s already written Barack off and has moved on ( . org ) to 2016 already.

What with the White House hosting a racist POS like ‘common (appropriate name for this turd) does anybody ever notice Mao-Oba never has anybody visit that’s ever said anything like “I Love America”. Maybe Mao-Oba doesn’t like to hear anybody say that when he’s around.

Barack and Holder are working on an executive order that bans ( in or out of his presence ) any words that explicitly state or even merely imply an individual harbors a love for America.

Anyone found to be in violation of this order will be immediately imprisoned at Gitmo as an enemy combatant of the Obama Socialist Regime.

What am I missing here? Gay marriage has been put to a vote in more than 30 elections. It has lost every time. It lost in Red States. It lost in Blue States. It lost among older voters. It lost among younger voters. It has never passed, no matter how the initiative is worded, no matter how much money was spent on the campaign.

And you are saying that taking the losing electoral side of this proposition will help get Andrew Cuomo — arguably the biggest grandstander in a party of grandstanders — elected to the Presidency?

How out-of-touch the left wing media has become, living in the fantasy of what they WANT to believe, ignoring the obvious reality surrounding them.
