Height of Hypocrisy: Sarah Palin Defends Limbaugh’s Use Of ‘Retard’

Wow, who’s surprised that Sarah Palin is holding a Democrat to a different standard than a Republican? While Rahm Emanuel‘s use of the word “retarded” was completely inappropriate and way beneath the standard that needs to apply to someone working in the White House (at least!), Rush Limbaugh said it too. Should not Palin’s exhortation for people to refrain from using “such inappropriate language” because such a “slur on all God’s children with cognitive and developmental disabilities – and the people who love them – is unacceptable, and it’s heartbreaking” not apply across the board?

Apparently not — because, you see, Rush was using the term ironically. Silly rest of the world, how could we miss that? Yeah. That’s what she told Chris Wallace in her interview for Fox News Sunday — Limbaugh was on her side, you see, helping her make her point. Also in her Fox News Sunday interview: Palin said that yes she was being paid for her Tea Party speech, but she wasn’t getting the money — it was going somewhere non-profit-ish. Could she specify? Clarify? Did she know where? Nope. She just knew it was going somewhere all good n’ stuff. Too bad she didn’t write that on her hand. Video below — oh and after you watch it, you might enjoy this.

Wow, who’s surprised that Sarah Palin is holding a Democrat to a different standard than a Republican?

Probably not the same people that aren’t surprised when Democrats hold Republicans to a different standard.

I don’t think it is a case of holding a democrat to a different standard, it is holding a different, higher standard for the Chief of Staff to the President of the US, someone who will be in our history books, to a loud mouth shock jock protected by free speech.

Free speech protection that didn’t protect Don Imus. Reid, Matthews, Olbermann, etc…held to a different standard? (Shuster and Matthews were forced to apologize…Imus apologized, where did that leave him?)

Is she expected to call for the firing of every american who has ever used the word? As I said, I don’t think he should be fired, but she was right to hit him on it, and hit him hard. He is very high profile, and I think we should expect more/better of him.

Gee, Sara – nothing like changing the subject and dodging the question. Here Airhead Sarah illustrates hypocrisy and you want to give her a pass. Airhead called for Rahm’s resignation just yesterday – and Rush’s gaffe is only about 24 hours old, too, but one is bad, the other is good. It’s not about who you think should be fired – it’s about Airhead’s repeated, demonstrated, proven hypocrisy compounded by her idiocy.

Few things. 1st Really nice picture there Rachel. Glad to see your staying classy. 2nd Who (besides Rachel and the LEFT) cares Sarah Palin is making money for speaking? 3rd What Rush said was a JOKE. If he initially said this before Rahm it would be inappropriate, Clearly this was NOT the case. Grow a sense of HUMOR.

    Rachel Sklar,

Please find out what provisions Obama was talking about in his House GOP Q&A that “might” result in us being forced off our insurance and the loss of our doctors.

    http://www.realclearpolitics.com/video/2010/01/29/obama_health_care_bill_might_have_violated_pledge_on_keeping_some_doctors_and_insurers.html

Try holding Obama accountable for something. You do know that Palin has zero effect on national policy, right?

  • AikidoJoe

Also, try to find out who “slipped” them in.

“You do know that Palin has zero effect on national policy, right?”

Yes,I do – I thank God for that – but some idiots think Airhead Sarah should determine national policy.

the post is titled *height of hypocrisy* and talks about holding dems to a different standard. i believe i addressed those points. no topic change.

did you listen to rush’s show? he said before he launched into his tirade that he would be attacked for using the word, even though the day before Dems were making light of Rahm’s use. He then went on to use the term repeatedly, often times mocking Rahm for using it, and also talking about hypocrisy and word police. He, whether right or wrong, did it intentionally to prove a point.

And, as I said, Rahm should be held to a higher standard. And we do have freedom of speech. And she did say that any name calling was demeaning, unnecessary and hurtful. She also said that people asked her to address that these were coming from the WH. (obama and rahm). She also gave a list of reasons for Rahm to be fired, not just his calling members of Congress F*cking r*tards.

    ———————————————–

I think they were let down and lied to. When Bush and Republicans were brought in back in 2000 they were going to overhaul entitlement programs and didn’t do anything other than the No Child Left Behind bill and Medicare D. They didn’t do anything to pay for the wars and just ran up debt. Has nobody in Congress ever heard of war bonds? In 2004 Republicans were going to finish the job and pay for everything. Didn’t happen. Democrats then have the take over in 2006, were going to fix our financial mess and end the wars. They were also going to oversee the most ethical Congress evah. How’s that been going? People like to blame the Bush’s budgets from 2006 on but don’t realize that the Democrats were the ones passing those budgets. They agreed to every single one, yet don’t take any responsibility for them. Every single dollar since 2006 that we’ve spent, printed, or borrowed have been authorized by Democrats. There is no denying that.

    So to sum up:
People who voted for Bush and Republicans in 2000 and 2004: Lied to.
People who voted for the most ethical Democratic Congress evah in 2006: Lied to.
People who voted for Democrats in 2008: Idiots.

  • AikidoJoe

Just to make my opinion clear: Medicare D was stupid and NCLB didn’t set the standards high enough.

First Rachel, we have known that for weeks she was getting paid and she had said in the last two weeks that she was going to take the money and turn it over to her ‘pac’ to be distributed to campaigns around the country. When she said pac I am assuming it is this one. http://www.sarahpac.com/

Now one thing that I have a question. This is a dot com, not a dot org. Isn’t there a difference? Maybe you can check on that, contact them and get some answers for us. There was also something strange about this get together over the weekend. A few people pulled out, Michelle Bachman (for one) and someone I can’t remember at the moment. Again, maybe you can digg into this for us.

The writing on the hand? Cool your jets on that, we have all done it. And if you say you have not, shame on you. But I did watch her speech last night and to me it was like ‘warm vanilla pudding’. There’s was nothing new and I would go so far as to say I would have asked for a refund.

I saw Sarah during the campaign, It was good, real good during the first run. But now it’s begining to look and sound like a well-worn copy of an old ‘Bowery Boys’ movie.

And about this retard stuff. If I could, I would like to get ‘ALL’ the players involved in this in a room. Lock the door, and say to everyone in the room. “Shut up & grow up. ALL OF YOU!”

And that also goes for the oh so smart in here that say names like ‘Airhead Sara’. Comon’ Ted just say ‘Retard Sara’. We know you want to.

  • TeaPartyAmerican

GO. HOME. SARAH! Do America a favor. The Tea Party does not need you as a spokeswoman!!!

Boy, Sara(h) N. Italy, that is so twisted I don’t think it has even a modicum of logic to it. But, you always excuse every illogical, unreasonable, mendacious statement of the Resigned Governor of Alaska, don’t you? And, indeed, are there any other types of statements from her?

By the way, I predicted the Resigned Governor would travel with her props. Sure enough, she trots her daughter Cessna onto the stage. Thank God most of us had better mothers.

  • Ted

The Tea Partier’s are saying no one should get their panties in a bunch when someone uses the”r” word as long as they then describe it as satire or a joke. Perfect!

So if I described the Tea Partier’s as a bunch of (insert “r” word here) and said I was just joking, I assume you all would be okay with that. Glad we cleared that up.

  • The Real Royal King

That Q&A was brutal, wasn’t it? The Resigned Governor of Alaska can’t really deviate from written or memorized texts, can she? I’m guessing on college entry exams she scores somewhere near the 50 percentile point.

  • Azarkhan

Definition of a white liberal (e.g., Real Royal Asshole, Billy Adkins): A white person who never met a black ass he or she didn’t want to kiss. Pucker up, Buttercups!

I can’t imagine how your crude comment is relevant, Azarkhan. It is certainly not accurate. I a most assuredly no fan of J.C. Watts.

  • Azarkhan

OK Real Royal A-Watts is obviously your token… BTW, Watts is so 1990′s. I know it isdifficult for liberals, but please, try to be a little more relevant.

So a politician has a different set of standards for their political enemies versus their poltical allies. I’m shocked, shocked I tell you!!!

All this proves is that Palin is just another politician same as all the others.

Sarah Palin is a bad mother because she *trots her daughter onto the stage*?

Sarah Palin is a bad mother. However, you made an illogical leap. She is not a bad mother because she uses her children as props. She is a bad mother for a host of reasons, not the least of which is she takes children who obviously need discipline, focus and healthy school attendance records and provides a unhealthy, unstable, malnourishing environment for them. The point about Little Cessna being trotted out onto and around the stage is to emphasize the correctness of my prognostication. I know this woman. I know how she thinks, or doesn’t think, how she acts or misbehaves. You obviously know her not in the least.

I think you have a shrine to Palin built in a coat closet in your house full of pictures, maybe a doll, and scented candles where you whip yourself Opus Dei style while crying to her pictures. hahahahaha

    I’m just kidding. hahaha

Is that hypocrisy, or is it valid criticism? Palin hasn’t done anything particularly well, and in her manifold failures and aborted undertakings, she has used her children in the most unseemly ways.

Prudence might have dictated the young Miss Brown not revel in this moment of fame. It’s a silly story kept alive, as best I can tell, only with her willing, perhaps a bit too willing, participation. Of course, if we follow the W/Cheney/Palin model, we will have the Brown girls being thrust onto the stage by their parents, or thrusting themselves onto the stage. At the first sign of criticism, the parents will loudly proclaim that their children’s privacy has been invaded. At least these are mature children, unlike Palin’s little props.

    The Real Royal King says:

Yes, the Palin children are role models par excellence. If my daughter had not already graduated from high school and college, married well, had a child AFTER marriage, I would urge her to follow Bristol’s path: attach myself to a piece of local trash, get knocked up, drop out and go through a charade of an engagement. If my son were not finishing law school, I would hope he would follow Track. Vandalize public property whilst avoiding felony conviction by forced enlistment. If all American children followed these paths, we would be a much, much better nation, I am sure. Of course, I can’t give the children all the credit. Some of that goes to Saint Sarah for some of the worst parenting skills since the last dingo dropped in the Outback.

Sounds to me like you have made the accusation that Palin is a terrible mother for using her children as props. It sounds like you are the one leaping….

  • The Real Royal King

I have to hand it to you, Sara(h) N. Italy. You are very good at posting tangentially relevant links. When it comes to analysis and logic, however, you come up short. Certainly, you have shown no ability to draw the distinction between poor parenting and indicia of poor parenting. Trotting the children onto and around the stage is one of the many indicia of poor parenting. I’ve said that clearly enough that any middle school graduate could understand. The poor parenting is the self-absorption that justifies leaving your children, children with very great needs, it appears to their own devices; leaving the eldest daughter to raise the younger children; pulling your children out of school, children who obviously need the discipline and regularity of school at the slightest whim, not for their own enrichment but for your own self-adoration. Please, if you have something, share it. Otherwise, leave the adults alone to engage in substantive discussions. Go tweet the real Sara(h). I’m sure you would have much to discuss.

  • Ted

Azarkhan – You seem hell bent on revealing more about yourself than you probably want to. Good idea to quit while you’re ahead, albeit barely.

  • http://sarainitalyblog.blogspot.com/ sarainitaly

Trotting the children onto and around the stage is one of the many indicia of poor parenting.

Then by your definition the Obama’s are guilty of poor parenting.

Once again RRk, when all else fails, resort to personal insults. Your attacks are so, so boring and predictable. I’m sorry if your mother was a bad mother, if she left you at home or something, but that doesn’t mean that Palin is a bad mother. Your comments are just ugly and flat out sexist.

“Otherwise, leave the adults alone to engage in substantive discussions. Go tweet the real Sara(h). I’m sure you would have much to discuss.” – comments like those make it impossible for me to believe that you are a decent parent. You don’t come across as a decent human being, so I find it impossible to believe you are capable of being a good parent. It is amazing that you feel superior to cast stones at others for their parenting skills. You just seem like one very mean, bitter, angry person, incapable of discussion without resorting to attacks and insults. And you are sexist. Shame on you.
