Howard Stern Bashes Jay Leno On CBS: “A Thief” And “A Lapdog”

Well the CBS Early Show bookers got what they hoped for when they booked radio icon Howard Stern to critique Jay Leno‘s first night back at 11:35.

It wasn’t so much of a specific review as a pass to unleash his hatred of the longtime NBC star.

It started with this: “Just the mere mention of Jay Leno’s name makes me want to vomit.”

Stern told his personal story as well, comparing it to Leno’s situation:

Jay is a lapdog, he goes on at 10 o’clock at night, he bombs there…I was fired by NBC many years ago, you know what I did? I didn’t sit there like a lapdog and take it, I got up, brushed myself off and I went on terrestrial radio on a competing station and I buried NBC into the ground.

Later, he rammed home the point he’s made before on his radio show – that Leno is “a thief.” “Jay takes and lifts bits directly from my show, directly from Dave’s show,” he said. “They don’t have an original thought on that show.”

Just over four minutes…and typical Stern.

Here’s the King Of All Media on CBS (not sure why they aren’t making this a CBSNews.com clip):

    Typical BS from Howard Stern.

No one– absolutely no one — in media has less credibility than Howard Stern. He dishes out the basest trash ever presented to a national audience. In my book, anybody he criticizes immediately moves up a notch on the respect hierarchy, just because if Howard is complaining, the person must have some redeeming value.

Stern doesn’t even mention the real reason he is so irked. Jay hired away stuttering John Melendez as his announcer. Stern is bitter and for that matter, so is Letterman.

I use to HAVE to listen to Stern as I was in a carpool with a Stern fan. I have to admit that he was doing a lot of the bits Leno now does on his show so in that respect Leno has ripped of Stern. As far as his credibility, well rumor has it American Idol may have him replace Simon, and the CBS early show wanted his point of view on Leno, and most morning show dj’s have copied his format for years. I listened to him on Sirius and found myself believing he is full of BS…then I go and research it and find he is right. My not be the best “cred” but he does have some “cred”. And the reason he is “irked” with Leno is not only the way Leno brought Melendez over to the tonight show, but the way he push Carsn out. I am not a Leno fan. Never have been.
