Joe the Heckler Not Ready For Prime Time

video

wilson_9-10Sometimes when a person inadvertently lands in the spotlight, they pounce on the opportunity and make the most of their 15 minutes. Like Joe the Plumber, for example.

Well Joe the Heckler isn’t that person. After Rep. Joe Wilson became a household name last night for shouting “You lie” during Pres. Obama’s address to Congress, he quickly apologized in a statement. But we demand video! We got it today, and now we kind of feel bad for the guy.

Appearing nervous, his voice shaking, Wilson was bombarded with cameras and microphones this morning as he left his office. “I, last night, heard from the leadership that they wanted me to contact the White House, and state that my statements were inappropriate,” said Wilson. “I did, I’m very grateful that the White House, in talking with them, they indicated they appreciated the call.”

Here’s another part of his comments, word for word:

We need to be, uh, discussing, uh, issues specifically to help the American people. And, uh, that would not include, uh, illegal aliens. These are people…I’m for immigration, legal immigration. I’ve been an immigration attorney.

Then he’s completely thrown off with a “tweet”-related question.

Now his opponent is raising big money in response and more dirt is being dug up on Wilson. At least Pres. Obama accepted his apology.

Here’s the video:

Are we watching the same video? I don’t see where he comes off nervous or sympathetic.

I guess it’s all up to interpretation.

Stay classy Republicans. Can you imagine the outrage the right would have had a Democrat screamed out “you lie” during a Bush State pf the Union????

  • Common Sense Common Sense says:

I don’t believe he needed to apologize. obama said himself he would call out those who misspoke about the bill. Well obama, you were called out last night. What’s wrong you can talk the talk but can’t take it yourself? Coward. Praise to you Congressman Wilson. You made me proud.

    Such short memories…..

Personally, if it were a spontaneous reaction based on what Wilson knows, and feels, I am glad to see someone showing some passion. From everything i have read, the House Democrats rejected the amendment to require verification and close this loophole which would allow illegals access to the health care.

Sounds to me like Wilson was correct.

And it is really ironic all the ruckus considering Obama accused Palin and Republicans (and the media?) of lying just seconds before Joe yelled this out….

We’re raising plenty of money in support of Joe Wilson. He stood up to the Liar-In-Chief.

  • Chris Jones says:

@shootfromthehip Maybe you should “shootfromthehip” less and do a little research instead. Democrats heckled President Bush repeatedly during his 2004 and 2005 State Of The Union speech. It was at the time unprecedented, but not surprisingly the media showed little interest.

At last, an honest politician! You took the words right out of my mouth, Rep. Wilson. I only wish you hadn’t apologized since your comment was the absolute truth. This administration wouldn’t know truth if it was staring them in the face. Thank you.

Chris, maybe you should heed your own advice. If you dig a little further back than Rush’s webpage, you’ll see that this all started during the Clinton administration with GOP booing and hissing during his addresses. In fact, Drudge linked right to it this morning with media matters (he really ought to do his own work, but maybe a hat store beckons) which linked to Bush’s treatment and then Clintons. I see Drudge was informed as he now links only to another GOP mouthpiece which conveniently omits the actions during Clintons time by the GOP. I’d make a snarky comment using your user name as you did for shootfromthehip, but you conservatives are so boring and no way I could top your zingers!

I’m with Harry1902. Let’s call them as we see them during presidential addresses to congress. I asked my Congressman to shout out baby killer, cheney puppet, complete asinine fool who can’t speak properly, or at least a scrabble word check on stategery, during Bush’s fabulous term, but I’m from Indiana and we get the nose bleed seats at those things. Wilson/Palin 2012!

  • CRZ CRZ says:

Sadly, you misspelled “strategery.” Nice try, though! Full points for irony.

  • lledo lledo says:

#@!%, I missed my scout meeting working on that one. Where’s the edit button on this site? Can a brother get an auto spellcheck? This is nothing like Perez Hiltons comment submitter page. I’m a God on that site. I had this one post…..oh nevermind.

  • lledo lledo says:

Wilson apologizes again to the President! OK stop already. You’re sorry and inept, we get it.

Asked if he regretted his comment, Wilson said, “Oh, yeah I wouldn’t do that – I wouldn’t have planned it or done it again.”

“The conclusion of the speech was actually inspiring,” he said. “As the speech went on, from my perspective, it got better.”

Anyone smell that? It’s a flip flopper. A weak one at that. One that acts like he’s tough but cringes like a whooped puppy when he steps out of line.

It’s also clear, Wilson actually disagrees with most conservatives here that praise his idiocy.

Lastly, he called Obama to grovel but got Rahm. So, he calls our President a liar on TV, but calls after to say….so sorry. This guy is hard as nails, probably Charles Bronsons brother. Boy, I’d love to be a fly on the wall during that private castration. Wilson vs. Rahm……I think we all see who came out the winner here.

Now watch the GOP quickly seperate themselves from Mr. Wilson much like McCain has. Too bad this Wilson doesn’t have a wife undercover in the CIA. We’d teach him then (forget national security, this is politics, right boys).

  • I would like to tell Sen. Wilson, CONGRATULATIONS! At least one person in Congress had the nerve to tell us ALL what such a LIAR the president is. I admit maybe you should have done it maybe in the hallway, BUT NO, I’M SO GLAD YOU DID IT ON TV, AND NOW EVERYONE SHOULD KNOW. He has been lieing to all of us for over 2 years now and he just cannot bring himself to tell the TRUTH! What a terrible excuse for the president of the Unites States and to be such a LIAR! We, the people, deserve a person who will listen to us, not just his longtime friends. (And we know who they are!)

  • shootfromthehip shootfromthehip says:

booing and clapping has always gone on. And both sides have engaged in that for decades. What is different is the yelling. The GOP is pioneering that. Way to go Republicans.

Obama’s National Security Chief Of Staff Goes ‘Nucular’

    video

After years of the cringe-worthy pronunciation of nu-cu-lar during the Bush White House, it seemed like we finally had an administration who had a litmus test in staffing their National Security detail - pronounce the word "nuclear." Not so. During an interview to discuss Iran's weapons program with MSNBC's Andrea Mitchell today, National Security Chief of Staff Denis McDonough definitely uttered the term Nucular. Gotcha! Right-wing critics eager for payback? Go! Video after the jump.
