President Obama Apparently Thinks (Or Maybe Hopes?) It’s Still 2008

President Obama has a lot on his mind and maybe that’s his excuse for the mistake he made during his visit to the Westminster Abbey. During his extensive London tour of visiting Buckingham Palace with the Queen of England and meeting with Prime Minister David Cameron, Obama strangely signed the guestbook at the Westminster Abbey with the wrong date.

Anyone could get the day of the month wrong, but to get the year wrong? And by three years? Maybe Obama is just yearning for more cheerful times, maybe he was so captivated by the tour provided by The Very Reverend Dr John Hall, Dean of Westminster Abbey, or maybe someone may have slammed a Guinness or two more than they could handle? The text of what Obama wrote in the guestbook:

It is a great privilege to commemorate our common heritage, and common sacrifice.

More importantly, why is Obama CONSTANTLY talking about shared sacrifice?

  • Ardiva

Yes, it looks like that date is intrenched in his mind. I thought only I made those same kind of mistakes. lol!

    ROFLMAO!!!!!!!!!!

Let’s see, since he didn’t actually win until NOVEMBER OF 2008 I’m guessing it was an honest mistake. I’m just glad he didn’t write it on his hand. Now that would be embarrassing!

  • Color Me Badd

He is kind of the leader of the free world, he is allowed to make a mistake once and awhile, he has a lot on his mind. Although right wing rags like Mediaite, never make mistakes. Take Francis Martel…please?

Where’s a teleprompter when you (he) needs one?

Look at this douchebag invoke a Sarah Palin reference into a story about Obama’s gaffe…!

Could you imagine the meltdown had she been the one to actually do this?

Media Matters and the Daily Kos servers would overload.

  • LOGICandREASON

Yet Chris Matthews thinks his god(Obama) is smarter than Michele Bachmann and Sarah Palin, and actually insists both ladies are stupid(as in morons).

Obama is an empty suit with an ego bloated by his loyal friends(the liberal media), my dream is to one day see him debate Bachmann or Palin without teleprompters or prior knowledge of the topic to be debated.

  • BarneyFranken

This is pretty funny but obviously not that big a deal, just a little embarassing for Obama is all.

The left are the nasty ones who weaponizes any mistake of their political opponents- Let’s extend them the courtesy they never would us and not stoop to their level.

He was too busy reading the writing on the wall over & over again in his mind he _____ed up.

Expect a lot more of that from him over the next eighteen months, until kicking time ( Barack to the curb ).

That is too funny. Now, it will be fun to see the excuses coming forth. Start spinning guys. We’ll just enjoy the different excuses.

Mediaite: Drudge linking to a story gives it “credibility,” makes it “significant” enough for Mediaite to cover

Martel claimed Drudge link gave story “credibility”, “significance and impact.” On May 1, Mediaite’s Francis Martel wrote a story on years-old, long-since denied rumors about an “Obama Sex Scandal,” that had been rehashed by the National Enquirer and promoted by Drudge. In the original version of her story, Martel wrote: “Somewhat adding to its credibility is the fact that the Drudge Report, whose success is directly attributed to breaking the Monica Lewinsky story in 1998, felt confident enough in its accuracy to give it prime real estate on the site.” The story was later revised to read that a link from Drudge gave the story “significance and impact”.

Managing editor Hall “stand[s] behind” statement that a Drudge link adds “significance and impact.” Mediaite’s managing editor Colby Hall wrote in a May 1 entry: “We have a smart audience of savvy media watchers who will know that when Drudge picks up a story, that in addition to his base of readers, media decision makers will also be seeing it and making difficult decisions about what to do with it. The days of a paternalistic media protecting the populace from questionable information has passed. Good or bad for the country and the world, it is. That is where we are today.” Hall added: “Originally, the writer Frances Martel claimed that a link on the Drudge Report added ‘credibility’ — that has since been changed to ‘significance and impact,’ which I stand behind.”

Mediaite founder Abrams: A news story is “significant… now that Drudge linked to it.” In a May 1 comment to Martel’s story, site founder Dan Abrams wrote: “The author, Frances Martel, is reporting it as a significant story, at least about the media, now that Drudge linked to it. I may not entirely agree with Frances’ reasoning as to why that makes it significant, but there is no question she is right that with Drudge’s millions of eyeballs, it should be covered by a media site.” He added: “I understand those who say that just because Drudge links to the Enquirer that does not make it news. True enough. But when Drudge links to a story suggesting the President of the United States might be having an affair, that is at least a -media- story for a media website.”

Mediaite’s Christopher: “Of course it’s worth reporting,” but Enquirer report was “complete crap” and Martel’s story wasn’t “how I would have reported it.”* In a May 3 post, Mediaite’s Tommy Christoper wrote: “The story of John Edwards’ affair with Rielle Hunter seems to have raised a media meta-quandary about how to treat stories reported by The National Enquirer. Should we report on them? Should we report that they’re being reported? Throw in a Drudge link to an already explosive rumor like, say, the President covering up an affair with a former campaign staffer, and it’s damn near irresistible. In reality, though, there’s not much of a dilemma for those who cover media. Of course it’s worth reporting.” Christopher added, “Let me start by saying that the National Enquirer story looks to be, in my eyes at least, complete crap” and listed a number of problems with the Enquirer story. Christopher also expressed concerns with, among other things, the “opinion and analysis” in Martel’s story and said he would have covered Enquirer report differently than Martel had:

Herman Cain admitted he didn’t know what the current phrase, “right of return” meant. If Hussein Soetoro were as much as half the man Cain is, he would admit he doesn’t know what year it is, or how many states there are in the U.S., or why he advocates a Communist system that has never worked in any other country foolish enough to embrace it.

But then, Hussein Soetoro IS a Dim.

Well, the Drudge Report is a major conservative media outlet and the site is called “media-ite.” Mining material from TDR doesn’t make mediaite a “right wing” web site anymore than their mining material from Media Matters or the Huffington Post make them a “left wing” site. At least that’s my opinion.

CMB, if mediaite is a “right-wing” website to you, what site(s) do you consider to be “left wing?” Would Media Matters fall under “left wing” or center/non-partisan to you?

This is actually pretty stupid. The guy made a mistake, I’m sure he knows what year it is.

But more importantly is the fact that he refuses to get approval for the Libyan Kinetic Operations after the 60-day deadline which ended on May 21st. He claims he doesn’t need approval. With the exception of an independent, a democrat and a few republican libertarians no one in congress is calling him on his violations. The media refuses to talk about it.

Also, Obama and the neocons/libs in congress want to renew the Patriot Act for another 4 years.

That’s the story….not the fact that he made a mistake writing the year.

My theory is that Obama is innumerate. Think about it. He can’t count the number of state we have correctly. He doesn’t know what year it is (he even asked someone before he signed the guest book and STILL couldn’t get it right). He spent several trillion dollars without anything whatsoever to show for it. He claimed that Obamacare would save money.

He isn’t exactly bright in any other area either.

It would be different if this stuff only happened once in a while but it is constant. From a “Teutonic shift” in the ME to the “Austrian language” to locking himself out of the White House… he just doesn’t seem to be able to function at the same level as the average person.

You would think the media would have a field day pointing all of this stuff out.

Well, there is quite a difference between something like this date gaffe or the 57 states compared with sheer ignorance and stupidity coming from the right.

Seriously, when Jon Kyle says that 90% of Planned Parenthood’s work is abortion, when, in fact, it’s only about 3% of their work, that’s not a “gaffe.” That’s either complete ignorance, or it is a lie. And, what makes it far worse is that Kyl’s staff defended what he said by claiming his statement was “not intended to be a factual statement.”

If one cannot see the difference between a true “gaffe” and things such as Kyl has said, well, I won’t say any more.
