Rep. Jackson Lee During Muslim Radicalization Hearings: I Want A ‘Hearing On Right-Wing Extremists’

Democratic Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee raised some eyebrows today at Republican Congressman Peter King’s Muslim Radicalization hearings. While King and the other members of the House Committee were focused on the threat of the potential radicalization of American Muslims, Jackson Lee thought other groups were just as dangerous and should be included in the Committee’s investigation.

Jackson Lee argued:

“I would add to that, that I would like to have a hearing on right-wing extremists, ideologues who advocate violence and advocate, in essence, the terrorizing of certain groups. . . . My concern with the focus of the hearings that we have had is the isolation of certain groups.”

Jackson Lee thought domestic “hate groups” should be of concern to the country. It might seem that Jackson Lee’s request comes only in light of the recent Norway attacks, however it turns out this isn’t the first time she brought up alleged non-Muslim threats at one of King’s hearings.

    She is correct.

Therefore, expect a backlash from the self- righteous righties in 3 … 2 … 1…..

There goes the former GOP operatives who run Fox News and most of its employees.

  • Michelle

    Man you two are dumb.

Once a right-wing extremist commits a crime he automatically becomes a left-wing extremist.  That’s what I gather from some of the commentary anyways.

3 … 2… 1 …. May I do the honors? This is more of the “We can’t profile”. We must make everyone go through the screening even babies in diapers should be strip searched. Yes there are right wing extremist out there but they aren’t on the scale today that comes close to terror perpetuated by Muslim extremist. Our security should never forget that any group has extremist and that they should also be monitored but no other group needs a congressional hearing at this time. I trust Home Land Security is doing all it can already to watch all Christian and right wing groups. Don’t forget who’s in charge and who her boss is.

Me too and I think we should start rounding them up and shipping them off to black sites, a little good ol’ Bush torture for em, nothing’s too good for our home grown crazies!

She plays a game called “Stick it to Whitey”, it makes her very popular with her constituents.

Her staff would like her to be investigated.

I want a hearing on big fat ugly women’s rage also…  I think that the time is way over due.

The pic of her looks like it came out of Aunt Jemima.

Sheila Jackson Lee is nothing but an ignorant, big-mouthed, rude, anti-representation to the poor people of her district.  She has NEVER said anything that comes close to representing a sensible comment, solution or even common decency.  Anyone defending this woman’s words or actions is just as ignorant!

Lee is a perfect guest for the Al Sharpton Show .

  • Anonymous

So she wants  an investigation into “right wing” groups because the investigation into Muslim groups may cause the isolation of certain groups.

    OH!!!!!  The irony!!

  • Anonymous

I think she is somehow related to Cynthia McKinney and Maxine Waters.

  • Anonymous

You are truly a benighted lib.

  • Anonymous

Yeah, Lee , name the attacks in America where the perpetrator said he was doing it in the name of Christianity and the name of God.

  • Anonymous

She is Al Sharton in drag!

  • Anonymous

No, she wants an investigation into “right wing” EXTREMISTS because of the spike in these groups numbers and recent incidents such as the Norway terrorist attack, and the more domestic attempt to bomb an MLK parade, and the shooting rampage at a Holocaust museum.

  • Anonymous

Are you forgetting the attack at the holocaust museum? The attempt to bomb an MLK parade? So should we wait for one of these whack jobs to successfully detonate a bomb? When do we start taking the threat seriously? Isn’t that the mistake we made with Al Qaeda?

  • Anonymous

Or maybe, given the atmosphere of this country, and the history of people that look like her in this country, she doesn’t feel so great about turning a blind eye to the right wing extremists that shoot up Holocaust museums and attempt to blow up MLK parades, just so we can exclusively focus on Islam.

  • Anonymous

Yeah, so ignorant. Why would a black person be a little hesitant to board the “let’s focus, solely, on Islamic extremists” train? It’s not like there are extremists out there that hate minorities and at times act on that hate. Right? Right?

  • Anonymous

“I would add to that, that I would like to have a hearing on right-wing extremists, ideologues who advocate violence and advocate, in essence, the terrorizing of certain groups. . . . My concern with the focus of the hearings that we have had is the isolation of certain groups.”

That comment doesn’t say anything about Christianity. If you’re referring to the link the author included, she very clearly cites an example. Do you really think there have been no attacks committed by people purporting to be Christian, in the name of god? The Bible says these types of things will happen. You can argue as to whether an attacker represents true Christian values, as Muslim’s will do with people like Osama, but don’t act like atrocious acts haven’t been committed His name.

An investigation needs to done for all the black racists like Sheila in all political offices!!

  • ImNotBlue

Or environmental extremists who attempt to shoot people at the Discovery Channel…?

Let’s have a hearing on them all!

  • ImNotBlue

Are you talking about a “preemptive strike?”

    I thought those were “bad.”

  • ImNotBlue

    Dumb.

  • Anonymous

No blue, unfortunately we learned that lesson with the WMD/Iraq myth. I’m talking about paying attention to the factors that can lead to these things. On a very basic level, Rep. King’s hearings are a good idea. He has made a few errors though. The first is solely focusing on Islam. Islam is not the only threat. When you start looking for a punch from the right, you get one from the left. That’s how extremists work. Also, he should not be alienating the Muslim community as a whole. He has asserted that they are not doing enough. There are those in law enforcement that would disagree. That doesn’t matter though. This is America. They don’t have to get up and stage a march every time a Muslim goes bonkers. For King to blame the entire community is to alienate the one’s that are trying to help. It also, rightly, gives the perception that you are picking on Islam. We don’t need to give our enemies ammo for their recruitment efforts.

I hope you aren’t trying to be sarcastic, or combative. If you aren’t, then you are finally starting to understand. Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! Hold comprehensive hearings on ALL FORMS OF EXTEMISM that lead to violence.

  • Anonymous

Sheila is just complaining about an unfair double standard. I would think a conservative would sympathize with that. “Lamestream media double standard” anyone?

Ignoring your asinine remark about investigating Sheila, we should investigate black extremists groups that are prone to committing violent acts as well.

  • ImNotBlue

I think we could hold two hearings… one on Muslim Extremism, and one one home-grown American extremism.

Let’s face it, there is a specific sect of Islam which has perverted the religion into a means for violence and hate.  It is not necessarily representative of the religion as a whole, but at the same time it’s what unites all these groups… they think (or say) that they’re doing things IN THE NAME OF their religion.  And with the amount of attacks, attempted attacks, and threats coming out of those groups, a hearing specifically on those folks is (IMO) warranted.

It’s like reading story after story about pit bull (the dog) attacks.  After a while, we’re forced to wonder if it’s the dog, or some other fact that’s created these situations.  So we’d investigate it.  However, in our PC society, instead of being able to investigate the pit bulls, we’d have to investigate collies, boxers, bull dogs, and everything else… so as to not make the pit bulls feel bad.  That’s being PC for the sake of being PC, and doesn’t lead to any real solutions.

As for “everyone else,” there have been enough attacks or attempted attacks (threats, etc.) that there could be hearings on “home-grown political and religious violence.”  Investigate the anti-Muslim groups.  Investigate the radical environmental groups.  Investigate the racist groups (both anti-black and anti-white).  Investigate the radical-homosexual groups (the folks who throw glitter at politicians they disagree with).  And so on.  There’s plenty of American-based folks to look at.

My real problem with Ms. Jackson-Lee, is that she sees these hearings as a weapon… not as a tool to learn anything new.  It’s theater for her, which is why she can threaten a hearing.  You don’t threaten a hearing when you’re trying to accomplish something noble or worthwhile… only when you’re trying to score points against your political opponent.  And to me, that is disgraceful.

Especially with the recent Christian terrorism act in Norway, some of the whack jobs might be inspired to do the same. The crazies who want to bring Armageddon in their life time.

  • HawkCW4

backlash huh, now thats funny.   To call an idiot out for making a stupid comment In an official hearing is a backlash huh.   Ok.  But you got to admit, she is THE biggest racist since Rev White tutored Obama.

Comon Rudy,  I dont like her either, but her looks have nothing to do with what she is.  At least I hope so or Im in big trouble too.   Its her thinking thats bad for America and she should be censured for making statements like that during a hearing.

  • ImNotBlue

So I assume you approve of the Radical Islamic hearings now, especially since that guy was caught earlier today:

As a native Texan and native Houstonian, I feel it’s incumbent upon me to apologize, ONCE AGAIN, for Sheila Jackson Lee. However, remember, she is from Queens, NY and was an affirmative action admit to Yale College and U VA Law School.

I prefer to claim a real Texas woman- the late Congresswoman Barbara Jordan.

“My faith in the Constitution is whole, it is complete, it is total. I am not going to sit here and be an idle spectator to the diminution, the subversion, the destruction of the Constitution.”

I would like some Congressional hearings to determine if Rep. Jackson Lee is competent to stay in Congress.

  • Anonymous

I can save the country some money- we already have the answer to that one- NO!

  • James

The only reason I give this woman a pass is because she is so Damn Good Looking!

GHreat idea, Lady. They are everywhere.  Behind/beneath ever rock. We need to exterminate them, really.

  • Anonymous

No I am not forgetting, far from it. There is no indication that attacks and threats of attacks by right wing extremist are not being taken seriously. There has not been a marked increase in these types of attacks and threats. The homegrown Muslim extremist did show a marked increase. There were also accusations that because of PC these attacks were being swept under the rug. Given the direction the current administration is going I don’t think anyone really thinks the right wing extremist are being swept under the rug. Janet Napolitano has a solid history of going after right wing extremist groups.

This deplorable bitch is enough to turn a reasonable person into a racist.

Jackson Lees biggest accomplishment each year in Washington is getting her big a. SS right along the rail at the State of the Union address.

  • caconservative

Just how embarrassingly juvenile can she get?

  • Anonymous

I doubt this is the cause.

  • Anonymous

How about the guy who was on his way to the Tides Foundation to blow away people because of what he heard on Beck.

  • Anonymous

So you are saying all right-wing extremists are white.  Thanks for sharing.

  • Anonymous

boy the racists sure come out on a thread like this.

  • Anonymous

So having hearing on Muslim extremists… A OK.  But calling for hearing on right-wing extremists … that should be censured.  Too funny!

  • http://www.facebook.com/bruce.kennedy3 Bruce Kennedy

Not quite as juvenile as Michelle Bachmann calling for an investigation  of Congress, to determine if any members hold any anti-American sentiments. Talk about an embarrassment.

This Skank is one reason the “N” word is still in use, for scum like Lee!
