Report: Homophobic Comment on JoeMyGod Came from Inside Senator’s Office

A commenter who posted “All Faggots Must Die” on the popular gay blog JoeMyGod has been traced to the offices of Sen. Saxby Chambliss, a Republican from Georgia.

According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Chambliss is investigating who left the comment in a post about the vote on Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell.

“We have seen the allegations and are moving quickly to understand the facts. This office has not and will not tolerate any activity of the sort alleged,” Chambliss spokeswoman Bronwyn Lance Chester said. “Once we have ascertained whether these claims are true, we will take the appropriate steps.

Joe Jervis, the founder of JoeMyGod, put his loyal commenters and fans on the case shortly after the comment appeared. Jervis quickly posted the Internet Protocol address which was traced to an office building containing offices for both Chambliss and Sen. Johnny Isakson (R-Ga.). The AJC then got Chambliss’ staff to confirm the post came from inside their office.

Jervis told AJC that “[a]mong the fields in which gay people are over-represented is the IT field,” which meant his gays were quickly able to ferret out the commenter’s location.

Joe Jervis is a talented writer and a terrific reporter, and he has a lot of connections and support. Whoever left that threatening comment messed with the wrong guy for sure.

Since the word “homophobic” is used so commonly now to bash people, I think it’s only right we drop the “gay” euphemism and go back to using good old “homo”. Seems fair.
