Soundbite: No, Maureen Dowd Is Not Describing Her Dating Life
“He was going to be the kind of guy who whipped you up and then, when you were all excited, left you flat, and then, when you were deflated and exasperated and time was running out, ensorcelled you again with some sparkly fairy dust.”
Is MoDo describing her last date? Nope! Actually, she is describing President Barack Obama in today’s column. She also mentions she’s known Obama would be in trouble from the very beginning, perhaps from past experience? It’s unclear. It does seem, however, that we’re back to the Obama is a wimp, narrative. Somewhere in there she also mentions Bill and Hillary. As a point of comparison, Camille Paglia has also penned a piece today about Obama’s chances where the health care bill is concerned. She does not use the phrase “sparkly fairy dust.”
