Tea Party Leader Advocates States’ Rights To Secede From The Union

video

Earlier this week, RNC chairman Michael Steele met with various leaders of the Tea Party movement. Last night, Hardball host Chris Matthews had on one such leader, former Arizona sheriff Richard Mack, for a spirited/heated discussion on corruption, congress and adhering to the constitution. The highlight of the back and forth, however, may have been when Matthews asked Mack to comment on Sarah Palin‘s mention of Texas secession from the United States. Perhaps not surprisingly, Sheriff Mack defended a state’s right to secede.

Here’s the thing, though. Let’s say a state were to secede. Like, say Texas. Would anyone really fight to get it back? Actually, leave “fight” out of it. Would anyone even complain?

The Tea Partiers have an element which is very dangerous. Some Tea Partiers may just be crazed conservative clowns, but the dangerous element cannot be overlooked. It is the more vocal and the more driven part of the movement. Steele’s sloppy, amateurish song-and-dance and his wink-wink-nod-nod act can really come back to bite the Republicans in the derriere. I doubt any of us want that. Can you imagine McConnell and Boehner reprising Glen(n) Beck’s whining and crying show?

Hey, Joe, as a Texan, I can say the times they are a changing here. Sure, Toll Booth Perry will likely coast to a win, but we are taking over more-and-more courthouses from the rightists and are within a single vote in the House. As for secession, send Toll Booth the bill for the Texas debt Uncle Sam assumed at the time of entry, plus interest. He’d go limp.

Instead of Texas leaving, a better idea would be to simply annex Mexico. Then make it the fifty-first state. No more immigration debate. They’re already here!

  • sunnyblack

writer…actually, if you go by obama’s geography knowledge, then mexico would be america’s 59th state.

  • writer

Oops, my bad. But annexation is a win-win. Our military could crack down on the cartels, no more dangerous border crossings, and no more of the left crying ‘racism’ because we try to protect our borders, like every other country on earth is allowed to do without such accusations being hurled.

These sick creatures should be euthanized or deported to North Korea. Now is NOT the time for pussyfooting. Deport them, shoot them, jail them or cage them, but DO SOMETHING to eliminate these America Hating scum Republicans!

God Bless America (three words that cause right wingers to go into spasms)!

There seems to be really annoying a$$-holes everywhere. Just look at The Real Royal King. He’s all over Mediaite oozing effluent into every discussion.

  • writer

Reading parakeeta’s comments, I can’t imagine where anyone gets the idea that the far left is hateful and resorts to name calling.

  • The Real Royal King

I suspect, Writer, that parakeeta is a fraud, possibly even a plant. I haven’t identified who she might be, yet, but I am pretty sure I know who SFPhoto is. But, I know a number of rightists who still believe Colbert’s shtick is genuine. So, who knows for certain?

  • writer

Even for a “i’m smarter than you” leftist, parakeeta does seem to be losing touch with sanity.

  • germ

Out of all the ideological stereotypes that parakeeta uses, she seems to get the most prominent reversed. It is quite confusing.

  • Ted

germ – I guess we can assume that you approve of “ideological stereotypes?”

BTW – for the tea-bagger looking to get away from it all, I hear Ghana offers something for everyone. Becktown anyone? No, how about Palinville?

If Texas wants to secede, they should go right ahead. Just let the rest of the nation keep Austin, for barbecue and music purposes.

If Gov. Goodhair really wants to reject all federal funding, he should man up and do it already. No education funding, no highway funding…go ahead. We’ll see how that goes.

  • writer

Ted, I hear there’s little diversity in Ghana. Ergo, they must all be racists.

Do you think Koldys Klucker named Danny the Douche is posting here? I think he doesn’t want Koldys and the kiddies to know no what a vulgar little troll he is.

It is funny how I was successful in baiting OlbySucks into commenting at Mediaite. However, I am disappointed that Danny didn’t man-up.

  • The Real Royal King

I am glad to see Johnny Jeff over here. He seems completely lost and bewildered. And, without the Bovine Support Network, I think we’re near an unfortunate pants wetting.

    Danny. Yes. Poor Danny.

Secession was legal in 1860 and it’s still legal today. I have no problem if a state wants to secede. If they are able to hold a convention to ratify the constitution then they also have the right to hold another convention to rescind it.

The constitution is silent on secession so that means it’s a right reserved to the states under the tenth amendment.

Our nation has supported other people’s right to secede all over the world, especially in eastern Europe, so it would be hypocritical of the federal government to deny that right to it’s own citizens. Even more so since it’s legal under our constitution.
