TMZ’s Harvey Levin Bashes CNN Over Naming Schwarzenegger Housekeeper

TMZ’s Harvey Levin has been taking CNN to task over Twitter this afternoon, drawing attention to the network’s changing stance on whether and when to name the housekeeper with whom former California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger had a child (known alternately as the “baby mama”). Levin, whose own news organization has been on the receiving end of criticism over issues with celebrities’ privacy, accused CNN of having no “moral compass” for changing their original take on the issue.

Take a look at a few of his Tweets:

The woman at the center of the controversy is, we now know, former Schwarzenegger family housekeeper Mildred “Patty” Baena, a divorcée who was let go from her position recently. TMZ, for the record, insists that she remains unwavering in her support of her former employer.

Levin has a point, TMZ and the paparazzi are always accused of “persecuting” celebrities, yet here we have a “mainstream” organization doing the same thing paparazzi do but with a nobody instead of a celebrity. Yet because it’s CNN, nobody complains.

With that said, the next time Arnold bitches about obesity let’s remind him the name of that fat ass he had a baby with.

I was probably one of the few people who saw that interview live today, and yes, it was just plain weird at the end when the anchor (blonde, Randi Kaye maybe?), gave her little speech about CNN not naming the woman and giving credit to the NYT. It was ridiculous, because (1) CNN’s assignment of “credit” to the Times was strange and arbitrary-sounding, (2) I knew TMZ and many other outlets had published her name well before the Times, and (3) everyone already knows her name! I think Harvey was too shocked to reply, and at that moment the anchor ended the interview. “Thanks Harvey!”, she barked.
