Did A Tyra Banks Producer Tell The Wire Actor To Dumb it Down for Better Daytime?
When The Wire‘s Julito McCullum appeared on Tyra Banks‘ afternoon talk show for a segment about President Obama’s effect on the academic goals of young black men, he says he was asked by a producer to act like he had no interest in going to college.
McCullum explained his encounters with a producer from The Tyra Show to True Stories Radio:
“They wanted it to be more dramatic than what I actually gave them. I thought it was just me talking about Obama when I got there. ‘We want you to say you don’t want to go to college.’ Any publicity is good publicity.”

McCullum recounts his appearance on The Tyra Show on True Stories Radio (at 2:55):
