White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs Joins Twitter!

Welcome to the internet, Robert Gibbs. President Obama’s White House press secretary joined the 140-character communication service today under the handle @PressSec. It’s not a verified account yet, but as of now looks quite reliable. As a test of its legitimacy, we’ll see if any Sarah Palin jokes start coming from the account.

UPDATE: It’s verified. (via Tommy Christopher)

This headline really needed an exclamation point?
Here’s a question: Since members of this administration campaigned as tech savvy techno-savants, and ridiculed John McCain as being a Luddite in tech matters, why are they displaying a lack of basic skills with something as banal as Twitter?

Maybe because they are busy running the country? Twitter is pretty low on the totem pole for the WH, and I for one am glad. Twitter is pretty useless compared to You Tube, which gives the WH much more penetration to a far greater number of Americans that Twitter, which only interests a narrow segment of the population.

Twitter also can be used against you, and the WH realizes that, too.

I’d give this White House a “B” fore being light years ahead tech-wise compared to the Bush WHITE HOUSE.

Did the Bush WH ever post bills in downloadable .PDF for on the WH website?

    No.

    Does Obama?

    YES.
