Maureen Dowd Sides With Palin On Couric Interview Story
This is interesting. In a column mostly devoted to detailing the similarities she shares with Sarah Palin (tongue firmly planted in cheek), Maureen Dowd appears to side with Palin on the events surrounding her problems with McCain campaign adviser Nicolle Wallace and the disastrous Katie Couric interviews:
I must be somewhat American because I agreed with Palin that she was undercut by Nicolle Wallace, one of the aides sent by John McCain to do the “My Fair Lady” makeover.
Wallace had had a contract at CBS News and was determined to get the big interview for Katie Couric, even if it meant leading the lamb to slaughter, telling Palin that “the Perky One,” as Palin called Couric, was insecure (presumably because of her low ratings) and that she would do a short-and-sweet chat about balancing motherhood and a career.
But Palin should have been smart enough to know that Couric has had a reputation for decades for being a tough interviewer, and that she wasn’t going to whiff on a chance like that. And despite Palin’s all-American paranoia, it is common practice to ask presidential candidates what they read.
I also agree with Palin that the McCain high command should not have barred the Palin kids, including media darling Piper, from the stage the night of McCain’s concession speech.
Nobody puts Piper in a corner.
The plot thickens. How long do you think until Katie Couric lands the Nicolle Wallace interview?

Talk about a woman who needs a stiff one, no not a drink, but rather something else, Dowd’s obsession with all things Palin can be quite disturbing at times. Once in a while it’s okay to focus your time and attention on someone you might loathe or disagree with but all the time seems overboard to me. The glaring disparities between the lame-stream media’s treatment of obamasama versus the coverage of Hillary Clinton and Sarah Palin does have a positive spin: only a blind, ideological idiot could miss the glaring hypocrisy, vitriolic irrationality, and vindictiveness.
In addition, the hypocrisy of liberal woman’s groups who remain silent as two female politicians were/are savaged by the sexist, lame-stream media sends a clear message to Americans.
Both the lame-stream media and liberal woman’s groups have, by there own hypocrisy, made themselves irrelevant. The Democratic Party has also revealed its true nature as it promoted and cheered hypocrisy.
Right wingers fantasize that the left is obsessed with Palin. Actually, we are still thunderstruck that a once-serious political party could pick anyone so obviously disconnected from history and national/international politics.
Is it really a ‘gotcha’ question to ask a candidate for the second highest office where they get their current events information? Of course not. Any 4th grader could answer that. Specific Supreme Court cases? Palin was directly involved in the Exxon settlement appeal. Could she not recall something so recent?
Couric is probably not as tough an opponent as Putin or Ahmadinejad, but we are supposed to think Palin’s total brain fart was because of the ‘unexpected focus’ of an interview?
Please. How blind does one have to be to ignore the incompetence of this woman?
Right wingers fantasies are all about Palin – but we Democrats are not obsessed with Palin. It’s that she’s so amusing and she gets the same attention that a car wreck does as people pass it. Right wingers have circled the wagons around Palin since she revealed herself to have all the depth of a groundhog, defending her not because she’s qualified to be anything other than manager of her trailer park at best, but because to not defend her is to admit she’s a failure.
How blind does one have to be to ignore the incompetence of this woman? As blind as a teabagger who’s ashamed to admit he/she is a republican.

FALSE! Why would you on the left care? You’re really claiming that you’re so interested because she was “such a bad candidate?” Why would that interest you at all… and to the extreme that it apparently has? You talk, insult, and attack her at every opportunity because you’re disappointed the opposition “couldn’t put up a better” candidate? And you want me to believe that?
Try again… I’m not buying it.

ARRGH! BILL STILL ANGRY!!!
Get a grip, buddy… you and the Liberal left HATE Palin because she is the antithesis of what you guys stand for… a strong pro-life women, pro-guns, attractive, with a big family, who doesn’t seem impressed that you live in a big city, drink fancy wine, or buy offsets to reduce your “carbon footprint.”
If it was qualifications you cared about, there are a lot of other people you’d be focused on… perhaps that guy who had only been a Senator (with virtually no accomplishments) for 2 years before getting “promoted.”
IMNotBlue – in addition to strong pro-life woman, blah, blah, blah, orgasm, you forgot dumb as a pimple on Rush Limbaughs left butt cheek.
Sweet God Almighty, I hope Ms. Couric never asks me about what I read because that kind of question is going to catch off guard and I will act like a complete dumb ass. Kind of like asking me what day of the week it is. AMBUSH JOURNALISM MAN!!!
PS – Can we just cut the crap and from this day forward call her Saint Sarah….please.

Do you really think the new strategy -to call anyone who doesn’t agree with left-wing politics “stupid”- is going to help you win any elections?
But if it makes you feel better… Couric doesn’t need to ask you what you read… and there are two good reasons for that:
1) Nobody cares… you’re an anonymous internet commenter… nobody cares what you read.
2) It doesn’t take a question to make you “act like a complete dumb ass.”
As to your “PS,” you can call her “Saint Sarah,” just as long as you’re consistent and refer to Obama as, “The One,” or straight up, “God.” Don’t worry, you wouldn’t be the first.
“We’re not obsessed with Palin! Maybe you’re obsessed with Palin! Ever think of that? Huh?”

I wouldn’t mind planting my tongue in Dowd’s cheek.
Does anyone remember a picture of Maureen Dowd posing in an open mans white shirt and high heels sitting on the bottom step of a semi circular stairway with one leg up on the step. It was in a magazine if I remember correctly. The gist of the article was how Maureen climbed the business ladder to what they called her success.
The Seven Best (Or, Somewhat Memorable) Moments Of The Jay Leno Show

After 95 episodes, the epic failure known as The Jay Leno Show airs its final episode tonight. Of course, Leno himself will be back after the Olympics, comfortably at 11:35pm all over again. Which was pretty much the problem to begin with - the 10pm offering started as a similar product to the Tonight Show, and only became more like the old format as time went on.
Stephen Colbert: ‘Sarah Palin is a F***king Retard’
The usually reliable Keith Olbermann's inability to nail Rush Limbaugh and Sarah Palin on Limbaugh's use of the term "retard" has been pretty frustrating. Sure, he has posited Palin as a hypocrite, but several times he has repeated Rush's and Palin's dueling assertions that he was "quoting" Rahm Emanuel, or that he was being "satirical," without really challenging it. Luckily, Stephen Colbert actually knows what the word "satire" means, and deployed a pile of it on Palin and Rush last night.
