Al Jazeera English Hires Former CNN Anchor Tony Harris

Former CNN anchor Tony Harris has joined Al Jazeera English as one of its “presenters.” After spending six years at CNN in Atlanta, Harris will now be based out of the headquarters of Al Jazeera English in Doha, Qatar.

Harris made his debut on the channel earlier today, reporting on the health condition of former Egyptian President Mubarak. In a press release from the network, Harris said:

“I’m really pleased to have joined. Having an interest in news from around the world, I was attracted by AJE’s global focus and look forward to being involved in stories from all points of the globe. It’s a very exciting time to be coming on board.”

Tony’s a good guy. I hate to see him go over to the dark side.

  • TerryDo

They just want him to join the Muslim brotherhood and spread the good jihad.

  • Liberal Tormentor

You just can’t make this stuff up.

Three comments. Three proofs the lord made more horse’s @sses than he made horses.
We NEED more reporting from more perspectives.
Al Jazeera has provided valuable information in cases such as Egypt.
I do admit, they have nothing to compare with Glennda.
Perhaps that’s because they consider themselves a “news” organization.

“We NEED more reporting from more perspectives.*”

*Except for Republicans, Libertarians, and people who disagree with Obama… especially FOX.

    You left out the footnote.

“glackin” is all for al jazeera but dead against Fox News. Very telling, indeed. His turbin must be a little too tight.

All the ” real ” Americans need to know about Libya, Egypt, Iran, etc is their exact GPS coordinates in case we need to send them a special delivery from afar.

Sub-intellects hate and fear any news outlet that is not Fox News. The idea that they might hear a perspective other than their own is just to much to bear. The real fear is they might hear something that makes sense.

Cognitive dissonance is an uncomfortable feeling caused by holding conflicting ideas simultaneously. The theory of cognitive dissonance proposes that people have a motivational drive to reduce dissonance. They do this by changing their attitudes, beliefs, and actions. Dissonance is also reduced by justifying, blaming, and denying. It is one of the most influential and extensively studied theories in social psychology.

  • felixw

Now if Al Jazeera would just hire away the rest of CNN’s team. Certainly they all have shown their skill in working for a propaganda operation, and in trading journalistic integrity for political correctness. What a perfect fit! Heck, maybe Al Jazeera and CNN should merge operations…..

All I said was that BMG was once again declaring himself the arbiter of who is a “real American”
    And that was fascist totalitarianism.
I also objected to the idea that “free cheese” is a denunciation of those in our society least able to help themselves .

I rest my case. I have an argument with the neo-Nazis who would like to take over this country.
They are neither from the right or the left, they are from the pocketbook.
Chuck Colson, one of Nixon’s advisors, is famous for saying, “If you’ve got them by the balls, they’re hearts and minds will follow.”

I am no longer sure who is the bigger threat to my beloved country.
My “great X3 father” came to this country in 1798 from Ireland.
He left because his choice was to convert or to die.
That sounds like the Taliban. It was the British Empire.
Today it could be Pat Robertson, or Huckabee.
    Or Amajhinidad.
Can you save me from religious fundamentalist?

And my family came to the US in 1632. So what?

Getting back to relevant comments, I am extremely happy for Tony! If he’s looking to cover more international news, he definitely made the right choice! AJE is an amazing network and offers a unique perspective not seen in US media. And I don’t mean that negatively, its just different and enjoyable. I get tired of people calling AJE un-american or anti-american. They are a very professional organization that we could use here in the US and I hope we do eventually. Way to go Tony!!
