De Blasio Speaks at Ramos Memorial; Cops Turn Their Backs to Him
New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio spoke this morning at the memorial of NYPD Officer Rafael Ramos to express his condolences, but there were some cops who, very noticeably, turned their backs on him.
Much of de Blasio’s speech was very personal in talking about what Ramos was like as an officer, a religious man, and a family man. He said that Ramos and all others like him who heed the call to serve and protect “are a special breed.”
But a lot of the officers standing outside during the memorial services were really unhappy with de Blasio, and again turned their backs to him:
