Obama: Malia Asked Me This Morning ‘Did You Plug The Hole Yet Daddy?’ (VIDEO)

video

President Obama had plenty of informed and lengthy answers to questions about the BP Oil Spill during today’s press conference. But his remark about the question his daughter Malia asked him this morning while he was brushing his teeth will likely be the one-line takeaway (and/or make it to a t-shirt near you soon). “Did you plug the hole yet, Daddy?” is apparently what Malia wants to know. Video of the remark below.

“Did you plug the hole yet, Daddy?”

    Total lie!

  • ImNotBlue

As asked before, does this mean the left is going to scream that Obama was using his daughter as a prop… just as they shriek about Palin?

    No… I didn’t think so.

It’s been at least an hour and I’ve yet to see anyone compare it to Pres. Carter asking for Amy’s input about the most important issue of the day and then relating it in a debate to much ridicule. If memory serves, there’s a skit from SNL with Dan Ackroyd climbing up into Amy’s treehouse to discuss disarmament, but I may be confusing a a couple of recurring impressions with a joke from Johnny Carson’s monologue because I can’t find a clip.

The only hole that needs plugging is BHO’s mouth.

If the war in afghanistan is still going on when his daughters are 18, I wonder if they’ll enlist.

@ImNotBlue: Compare the above to this photo* and tell me they’re the same thing.

    *Not mother, but daughter. Still…

Thanks, I didn’t know Bristol was the President. I’m sure she will appreciate the promotion.

  • notsofast

And how horrible are those lib TV and movie stars taking millions to show their children, right?

I can’t believe that didn’t pop in my mind asap.

My boy almost got an F (private school-don’t like it, leave) in Civics over that.

His teacher, who had taught my brother as a freshman, was a universally perennially hated little guy who also happened to be a raging liberal. It was 1984 and Mr L took 10 or 15 minutes a day to make political statements. During one particularly galling diatribe so it was to an upstanding young conservative such as my baby) that Carter was going to go down in history as the greatest President ever yada yada yada my smart alec naive of the way of power son popped up with “Will Amy go down in history as the greatest nuclear adviser ever”.

He ate humble pie and crow for the rest of the year and also learned a very valuable life lesson.

    Thanks for the reminder.

@notsofast: I was just responding to INB that there are matters of degree and perhaps in my own defense, my first comment revealed that I’ve been looking for a 30 year-old SNL transcript or clip, so that I could poke a little fun at the President’s story.

As for Bristol being photoed with her kid, Sarah putting hers in a sling or Brangelina taking bids, prior to five minutes ago, I hadn’t said a word.

  • The Real Royal King

Quick change of subject, NSF. Nicely done!

  • notsofast

And Bristol is running for which office? I missed that in your post.

And INB was responding to the lib attacks that SP received.

  • notsofast

Poor, king- I addressed the topic- magister wasn’t!

    Try again!

And another hole that needs to be plugged is YOURS!

  • notsofast

And King, the drilling the gulf is in what is in what is known as the Macondo Prospect.

And guess what, King- Bush had zero to do with it!

“Mapping of the block was carried out by BP America in 2008 and 2009. BP secured approval to drill the Prospect from MMS in March 2009 without MMS requiring use of an acoustic blowout preventer actuation alternative. An exploration well was scheduled to be spudded in 2009.

On 7 October 2009 the Transocean Marianas semi-submersible rig commenced drilling, but operations were halted at 4,023 feet (1,226 m) below the sea floor on 29 November 2009, when the rig was damaged by Hurricane Ida.

The Transocean’s Deepwater Horizon rig resumed drilling operations in February 2010.

An explosion on the drilling rig Deepwater Horizon occurred on April 20, 2010. The Deepwater Horizon sank on April 22, 2010, in water approximately 5,000 feet (1,500 m) deep, and has been located resting on the seafloor approximately 1,300 feet (400 m) (about a quarter of a mile) northwest of the well.”

  • Grammie

Gee, NSF, that was a conversation stopper for sure! Thumbs up!

  • AikidoJoe

I’m sure BHO will be having a conversation with his daughter that goes something like this tonight.
    ————————–

Malia: Daddy, I didn’t say that this morning.

BHO: I know honey, but sometimes daddy lies because I have to act like this oil spill is consuming every moment of the day.

Malia: So it’s OK for the president to lie to the American people.

BHO: I guess so. Yes. But only if the president is daddy or a fellow Democrat.

Plug the hole? On what darling, my poll numbers?

  • humain_info

NSF, the policy to not require acoustical BOP was established in 2005, as a result of Dick Cheney’s Secret Energy Task Force.

I am not sure how quickly you expect an administration to change the direction (and ethics) of a boat as large as the US govt, but 2 months in the job seems unrealistic.

That the same people who blame Obama for the spill (and the bad regulation) are also the same that are who balk at his insistance on better government, stricter regulations and enforcement is very hypocritical.

Excuse me while I puke!! Lying A$$hole!

So Bristol, the legal-aged daughter, does an interview where she has her child in the photo… knowing full well that the interview will ask questions about her kid. VERSUS, Obama interjecting his daughter into the conversation, with no pretext, no relevance, and no value.

Hmmm… I do see a difference. Although, I’m not sure it’s the one you want me to see.

Maybe she was just giving him a hint that he’d spent too long in the bathroom.
