Fox and Friends Throws A Hissy Fit Over President Obama’s Canadian-Built Bus

video

As the New York Post puts it, President Obama’s a “Ca-nucklehead” for “barnstorming the heartland to boost US jobs in a taxpayer-financed luxury bus the government had custom built — in Canada.” The Post‘s Geoff Earle reports the Secret Service commissioned the bus–and a second as well–from an American company, but the million-dollar buses have some Northern exposure:

The feds bought the two coaches for $2.2 million from Hemphill Brothers Coach, based in Tennessee. It installed custom interior upgrades into the Prevost shell, which accounted for about half the cost.

The contract lists the country of origin as Canada and place of manufacture as “outside U.S. – Trade Agreements,” a possible reference to the North American Free Trade Agreement.

The “Greyhound One” story did not escape notice from the crew at Fox and Friends, who took issue with the import. “Outsourced to another country. How embarrassing is that?”

Watch it here, from Fox News:

Since no one in the liberal media has the stones to bring it up, why not F&F?

Now, I’m no fan of F&F. But they have a point. I mean why didn’t 0blamey order up a Chevy Volt Bus? $2.2M per bus would help out his little car company wouldn’t it? And create green jobs. Yay Barry!

Alas, our dollars went to Canada. Typical

    Obama damage control, ACTIVATE!

Here we go with the trivialization of totally valid criticism.. Why is he going on this tour? Does he have a plan for jobs that he’s unveiling? NO!

  • SNAPTIE

..So much for “Made in America”, huh Mr. President

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Joey-Boots/690621350 Joey Boots

I wonder where those clothes the Fox and Friends are wearing are manufactured and also their studio equipment ie cameras, lights, production hardware and other assorted software. Also, aren’t they a foreign owned Corporation? And don’t come back with, “they’re not out promoting American jobs”, cuz yes they are……they not only “report” on the topic, but are also opinionated on it. Hypocrisy at its finest!

  • http://twitter.com/SailRabbits Magister

It’s been reported that the Secret Service ordered two of these armor-plated buses. One which is currently being used by the President and another reserved for the Republican nominee.

If the lowest bid — which was submitted by an American company, who apparently subcontracted work to a factory within our closest trading partner — isn’t patriotic enough for some of President’s political opponents, perhaps he should use the other one because if you buy into the rhetoric, it must have been manufactured someplace else.

  • SNAPTIE

Look at it this way.ObamAA+ is out on the road pushing for renewed American Manufacturing and job creations.ObamAA+ =Total failure.

  • http://www.facebook.com/mat.hill3 Mat Hill

So it’s his fault the American company outsourced?

  • http://twitter.com/Good_Lt Good Lt.

They’re not trolling the country giving lectures to people about how we need to buy American, or that we need to support American manufacturing and autos, or that we need to keep jobs here in America.

Obama’s doing that, and hence, the hypocrisy charge sticks.

Obama talks the talk. And that’s all he does. After this whirlwind tour through what his supporters like to call “flyover country,” he’s off to Martha’s Vineyard for yet another working-man-style vacation. Then maybe he’ll give a speech about jobs or something.

  • Anonymous

The only ones who confront our incompetent community organizer is Fox, Tea Party patrons and Joe the Plumbers.
Everyone knows the lame stream media has a slobbering love affair with the anointed one!

  • http://twitter.com/Good_Lt Good Lt.

If President Super Patriot wasn’t making the centerpiece of his, um, ‘economic agenda’ the need for American taxpayer money to support American jobs and American workers, then maybe this wouldn’t seem like such a big deal.

Now off to another vacation for your hard-working President.

  • i420

The buses do not belong to the President…the belong, are owned and operated by…the US Secret Service. Obama, is merely the first President to be in office with them at the disposal of the SS to protect whomever happens to be President. When Obama exits the executive branch…the buses will still be there, awaiting the use of the next President.

So…just be certain…you point your finger at the SS, not the President, who for lack of a better expression, is at the mercy of the SS.

He’s on TV right now talking about “Made in America”.  What a f’ing joke.

Maybe it’s a little meta, but the Quebec-based bus manufacturer (Prevost) features the “CNN Express” on the page advertising their convertible shell.

Hypocrisy at it’s finest is 0blamey’s speech he’s making at this very moment about “Made in America”.  Same speech that he made Monday.

Of course Faux News wouldn’t report that an American company got the bid and subcontracted the work to a Canadian company because the facts don’t fit their predetermined narrative. This is what Faux News does lie, distort, and misrepresent it’s the staple upon which the brand was built.  Did F&F report on Newt “made in America” Gingrich or Herman Cain selling foreign made campaign t-shirts? No,because it doesn’t fit their narrative.

Mediaite calls it a Hissy fit.. When the jobs are supposed to be the number one priority for the president, and they procure a vehicle that is not made in USA, Mediaite calls it a hissy fit.
Obama talks nice about creating jobs, may be he does not understand how the jobs are created. It helps if you buy the products made in USA. The taxpayers supported the bail-out of US auto-industry, but WH had to go to Canada to buy the buses. The same buses that are being used to promote jobs-agenda by the White House.
Mark! you are a disgrace in promoting your anti-FOX, or pro-Obama agenda, by calling it a ‘hissy fit’. Did you win any brownie points for the WH.

  • http://twitter.com/SailRabbits Magister

Are there any purely US companies which make buses?

Prevost seems to do some manufacturing within the US, but based on this story, I have to assume that the parts were assembled in Canada. A quick glance and a few clicks through the appropriate Yahoo! directory hasn’t thus far produced any American-owned, totally American-made and American-assembled companies.

Hey Fox & Friends aren’t the ones who implemented the “made in America Only” policy so what’s the problem with them calling out the president on yet another rule that doesn’t apply to him. Your rhetoric is extreme and really misplaced. We could care less if he is campaigning – has he ever really stopped?

The fact is, us ‘hobbits’ are sick of Obama, he’s unoriginal, uninspiring, and out of touch. Draping himself in the American flag with a giant red barn as a backdrop won’t change how ineffective he has been as the Leader of the Free World.

    from Hotair.com:

Why not use a manufacturer based in the US?  I’m certain that Complete Coach Works in California could use the work, for instance, or North American Bus Industries in Alabama.  Setra USA manufactures its buses in Greensboro, North Carolina, a key state that Obama could easily lose in 2012.  Wouldn’t a $2.2 million buy there have turned a few heads?  For that matter, Obama could have bought them from Motor Coach Industries and picked them up in his home state of Illinois at the start of his tour.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Joey-Boots/690621350 Joey Boots

you musta missed the last half of my post…..no they don’t have to “troll” the country in a bus to do this, because they easily do it from their foreign-owned studio in nyc while wearing foreign made clothes and using foreign made production equipment……f&f and fox in general don’t only promote the news on this topic but are opinionated in favor of promoting American jobs and thus the hypocrisy charge sticks….so there!

Hmm, the first thing I’d like to mention is Stalin’s Train Car, which is now displayed in Georgia (the country) is green and nowhere near as menacing as our President’s Bus?

I know this smacks of “Godwins Law,” however, there is something brutally cavalier about what I perceive as a lack of concern for the republican process in America, by Obama and company.  As if we are all on the train to nowhere and we are going to like it, or else!

As for “Godwins Law”: That bus and the procession, (without disrespect for the professional and dedicated security) disturbs me.  Is there a definite tactical reason for the Black Machines, or is it another racist snub?  (just kidding)  Anyway, did you ever notice that in the past 100 or so years, all “evil empire’s” militaries “goose step?”  The Soviets, North Koreans, Japanese and the NAZIs, etc.

Cant you just picture the US Navy SEALs goose stepping?  Ouch!

Sure, there are a number of things Obama might want to do regarding jobs. He would love another stimulous of some kind, since there is a much better chance that the government can spur private sector hirings than the free market, which has no faculty for human emotion. But let’s face it, be honest, what chance would any Obama stimulous or jobs bill have of passing the house? Zero. So he needs to be out there changing that for 2012. And again, all these repub candidates are out there taking pot shots at him, why should he not respond?

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_RSLEVQBMJKCHPALYRG4FM2LFPQ Chuck

Nice try, but he’s been a US citizen more than 25 years.  The Secret Service ordered the buses, ordered them in black, and for whatever reason ordered them from Canada.  Even so the optics are silly, would be even better if it was made up in the colors of some foreign socialist country – that’d make for some entertaining talking points.

Based upon their website, Complete Coach Works does the same type of work as the Tennessee company; they convert buses made by someone else.

Setra is a division of Daimler-Benz (Germany); North American Bus Industries does some assembly in the US, but their buses are partially manufactured in Hungary and based on their job listings, Motor Coach has their factory in Winnipeg.

Of course he does not have any kind of plan, period, save getting reelected. His utter lack of respect for his own office is reflected in his lack of interest in being president and his focus on being elected president. He is unable to lead due to his inexperience and ineptitude, so now he starts campaigning for his own reelection before his term is near over. If you count the trips, and parties, and vacations he has taken he has actually worked as president for only one third of his term to date. For him it is all about the title and nothing about the actual job.

Fox and friends…..  What a league of total right winged idiots and losers.

You might be a right winger if:

… you think the right to life ends at birth.
… you think that corporations have more compassion than humans.
… you think trickle down economics actually trickles down.
… you understand that getting people to vote on abortion issues will keep you in office and let you pass tax cuts for the upper class.
You think that the best way to protect people from illegal drugs is to put them in prison.
You think “compassionate conservatism” is when you feel sorry for the homeless guy sleeping in the gutter as you step over him on your way to a $1000 a plate fundraiser for Tom Delay.
You are opposed to increasing the minimum wage and in favor of repealing taxes on inherited wealth.
You are opposed to Affirmative Action in college admissions and attended a private university as a “legacy.”
You really believe that cutting taxes increases government revenues.
You believe in “Liberty and Justice for All” (rich, white, straight men)
You rant and rave about Liberals but have never actually met any.
You actually think that Fox News does not “spin.”
You are rotating so fast that you think Fox News is standing still and the rest of the world is spinning.
You dodged the draft during Viet Nam (with Daddy’s help) and now you question the courage and patriotism of men who came back with medals (and scars) and understand wars are bad.
You think that a president lying about getting a blowjob is far more serious than a president lying about the reasons for starting a war.
You think it is treasonous for a newspaper to report that the government is lying, using torture, invading someone’s privacy or breaking the law but think it’s okay for them to expose the identity of a covert CIA agent for partisan purposes.
you’re for tax cuts for the rich because you actually believe that one day you’ll be rich.  You might be a right-wing Repugnant, oops, I mean Republican, if you’re against abortion but don’t give a damn about those babies once they’re born.  you try to make it complicated, but all Jesus was really saying was “Do unto others, as you would have them do unto you.”  you think that (compared to you), a whiskey-guzzling, coke-sniffing, draft-dodging loser is the cream of the American crop and the best this country could offer up for President.  you believe you protect freedom by sacrificing it.  You think Liberal slant is bad, but think Right Wingerslant is just fine You can’t see that claiming everyone else is acommunist while your party’s color is red is beinghypocritical. You claim that speaking out against a president justbecause he’s George W Bush is un-American andunpatriotic, yet speaking out against Clinton eventhough he was president is being a good, patrioticAmerican. You believe that Ted Kennedy should be condemned forChappaquiddick, but Laura Bush should be forgiven forkilling her ex-boyfriend while she was driving. You don’t see that if the Dixie Chicks had beencommenting on Clinton, you would be praising theminstead of trashing their CDs. The ‘lefty liberal Hollywood types’ don’t have theright to criticize Dubya’s policy’s and/or decisions, but the right-winger control freaks can criticizeClinton all they want A person protesting against W is un-patriotic,un-American and should be shot, but a personprotesting against Clinton is merely exercising hisfirst amendment right You believe that the worst Republican in the world isbetter than the best Democrat. Abortion is murder, but killing the children in Iraqis liberating them Clinton getting a blow job by a woman not his wife isan impeachable offense, but starting a war of lies byW, allowing prisoners to be tortured and takingfreedoms away from your own countrymen is not. You tell us to “get over it” because Bush took asecond term, but you still haven’t gotten overClinton, Liberals and France. You believe that W is a ‘man of God’ although he doeseverything Christianity tells us NOT to do. You are offended by Clinton’s extramarital affair, butaren’t concerned when W starts wars on lies and hasthousands of innocents killed because of it.
…You think NPR should be shut down.  …You think $3,000 is a fair price for your vote (what Gov. Bush gave Texas teachers in a pay raise shortly before announcing his candidacy for president in 2000).  …You actually believe the election results in 2000 and 2004 were correct.
    …You believe free-speech is a felony.
…You think the USA is the only ‘free’ country in the world.
…You think the USA is the ONLY Super Power (because you have never heard of the EU).
…You think national health care should be run by the insurance companies.
Thanks for the opportunity to do this.Santa Fe Dreamer …you take dinner conversation cues from Bill O’Reilly: Normal person: “Pass the salt.” Right-wing Republican: “SHUT UP SHUT UP SHUT UP!” …any time you’re cornered into defending lawbreaking Republicans, you bring up Ted Kennedy and that’s supposed to be the end of the argument….you WANT Jean Schmidt….you look like a moron on any talk show that isn’t hosted by one of your buddies. (See O’Reilly on Letterman)…”n*****” is a staple of your vocabulary….you are angry for reasons you can’t explain, talking it out only makes you angrier, and the only way to make you feel better is to quash someone socially below you….you can hear, but are physically incapable of listening….you spout talking points that have been proven false, hoping that it’ll stick anyway….you believe our president and government “just wouldn’t do things to hurt its citizens.”…the phrase “eminent domain” is like a symphony to your ears.~Kathleen Guilfoy

You seem to miss the hypocrisy of Mr 0bama’s Made in America pitch today.  You seem to miss the irony in owning part of several automobile manufacturers and not utilizing them.  You seem to miss the irony of not utilizing the precious green energy community for these buses.  Your specious facts about spending are nothing but deflecting.  Fuel?  Too funny, your Dim (D) heroes will see to it that we create as little domestic fuel as possible and redistribute as much American wealth to other countries as possible.  Which is the whole point in his bus money going to Canada.

By the way, drop the LOLs.  They’re embarrassing and further undermine your already limited credibility

So far he has done nothing to alleviate unemployment, in fact he has made the problem worse. Government meddling in the private sector is why we are still having high unemployment numbers. Work is about producing goods and services, not emotion. Emotion is a key point for liberal/progressive politics and that is why we see such division in government. Liberals use emotional appeals to keep spending at all time high levels while demanding that the rich pay more and more to sustain the people who have no self motivation to work. I know you will disagree but there is a certain element in this country who are perfectly happy to take tax money as entitlement to sustain their lifestyle without having to produce anything. So why shouldn’t republicans take pot shots at him? He has made himself an easy target.

Those two buses the property of the United States. It just so happens they came on stream during the Obama Administration, they’ll be available for future use by Republicans and Democrats who occupy the Presidency. So what’s the problem Fixed Noise? Can’t get pass it being broken into by a black man?

  • http://twitter.com/SailRabbits Magister

The federal government has to buy from the lowest bidding company capable of doing the work and in this case, it was Hemphill Brothers of Tennessee.

Also as I’ve noted elsewhere in these comments, there appear to be no US-owned bus companies, who manufacture entirely within the United States.

  • Anonymous

Fox and Friends are morons.  They’re idiots. Many of the things they “report” are at best half-truths or simply lack of knowledge.  At worst, they are lies.

Yes, the shell of the bus was made in Canada, but most of the rest of the bus, including the interior, was made in Tennessee.  The Secret Service ordered these, not Obama.  The Secret Service has been concerned for awhile about leasing buses for Presidents and Presidential candidates to ride around in.  It should be noted that the 2nd bus will be used by the Republican nominee for POTUS.

I wonder if any of these F&F morons use Blackberries?  Blackberries are produced by Research in Motion, a Canadian company headquartered in Ontario.

These jerks on F&F make fun of the fact that Obama should have had a “green” bus, and perhaps he should have.  But you know that the cost would be even more, and then F&F would criticize him for spending so much money and would have suggested that he not buy a “green” bus.

Same as the Statue of Liberty.  Tear it down……don’t spend the money to fix it up because it came from France!

No, they ordered them from a company in Tennessee.  Probably a fricking republican at that.

The creation of the Fox News Network resulted in a few less than 2000 american jobs being created–directly (i.e. their employment).  They rescued a few notables from unemployment caused by liberal policy (hello, Juan Williams).

Contrasted with traditional media, Fox is indeed “biased” towards America.  Remember CBS’ Mike Wallace:
Wallace proclaimed that if he were traveling with
enemy soldiers he would not warn U.S. soldiers of an impending ambush…

  • Gorgegirl

Look carefully at the front of the bus and you will probably see two small American flags – just like you find on the front of the president’s limousine.

  • Anonymous

I was thinking the same thing about you.

  • Gorgegirl

I’m sure the person who procured the bus was NOT the president.  It is the Secret Service’s responsibility and since the company is located in Tennessee, they probably thought it was a US company.  Now, if FOX was interested in bringing all the manufacturing – 1.2 Million jobs lost to China during the Bush administration- back to the US, perhaps we would have more manufacturers here for our purchases.

  • Gorgegirl

look at it this way – if it hadn’t been for the President, you wouldn’t have ANY automakers in the US.

  • Gorgegirl

You speak common sense – something missing with these hateful posts these days.

And we all use foreign made components in foreign made computers to make comments on this story on the web – so what is your point? There are more industries affected by the Obama administrations handling of the economy than just the manufacturing sector. Unemployed, highly educated workers are entering a new era of long term unemployment because of this administration’s failed policies. Seeing him galavanting around in an armored bus is not helping the job market to recover from this slumping economy. He is running for reelection earlier than any past president and that is his focus – not doing his job of leading the country. You’re damn right some of us don’t like this, but it isn’t because his bus was not made in the USA, it is because he is the lousiest president of all time.

Government meddling in the private sector – what exactly does that mean?  Obama needs a jobs plan in one breath and get the government out of our business in the next breath. What jobs can he give beside government jobs? I have just one question – since the tax cuts have been in effect and renewed by Obama what corporate jobs have been created by the “job creators”? I need a job I don’t care who gives it to me I just want business to stop sitting on their enormous profits and open the job market.  One last comment Obama commissioned the bus from a Tennessee, last I looked a State in the United States, entity and they outsourced the job to Canada – oh now I know why I don’t have a job

Just thought I would point out that there is more automotive manufacturing activity in the Province of Ontario than in any of the 50 states.
Also, it occurs to me that if the US is going to have trade agreements with other nations, (which are necessary), then having one with a nation that is on equal footing would be the right way to go.  The minimum wage in Ontario is $10.25/hr.  It varies a bit from province to province, but remains mostly the same across the country.
Hell, you never know–increased trade with Canada may even raise wages in The States.

Until this administration manages to stabilize the economy and stops manipulating it by printing money and spending like sailors on liberty, we will continue to see businesses holding on to their money and working to retain their market share. It is simple math, if they haven’t got money for capital the cannot stay in business. Taxes are only part of the problem. There are many facets to the current economic problems we face, but the Obama administration and members of Congress have done nothing to stop the hemorrhaging of cash from the treasury.

The current debt ceiling debacle is a prime example of the problems that they could have avoided. Quadrupling the national debt at a time when we were in recession was the worst course of action that Congress and the president could have pursued, yet they rushed headlong into the disaster. Failing to control spending and failing to create and pass a budget is what got us here more than outsourcing or off-shoring jobs.

The reason we have a tight job market has multiple causes, but when leadership fails to do the things they have control over and allows the downhill slide of the economy brings into question what the true motivation behind their actions was. Since they did not do what they should to arrest the spending, and did not do what they should by making this country operate on a budget that reels in all the unnecessary expenditures then they are complicit in the predicament we find ourselves in today.

There is no sense in candy-coating this, the Obama administration and the Congress working together have failed the American people and as such deserve to be fired. The first step Mr. Obama wants to take on the jobs issue is create another department of the federal government. More waste, more expense and no more real jobs.

Don’t lay the blame at the feet of business exclusively, they have two powerful partners in the Congress and President, and they have caused far more havoc in the job market than business has.

  • Anonymous

I’m not spinning.  I am telling the facts.  The shell of the bus was made in Canada, but an American company put the whole bus together.  You are bashing that American company as well, if you are criticizing President Obama for this purchase.

I don’t know if you are being facetious or not about American UNION workers, but I will say that while I have never been in a union, I am pro-union.  My father was a teacher in a teachers’ union.

But I wonder if Hemphill Brothers, the Nashville Tennessee company that the Secret Service ordered the bus from, is a union company or not?

Further, if you are using this situation to bash President Obama, go to Hemphill Brothers’ web site and look at their list of customers, especially those listed under “Other.”  This list includes President Bush, Senator John McCain, ex-governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, Fred Thompson, and Sarah Palin.

But none of you find a problem with American made/assembled, being sent for use in Canada & elsewhere?
None of you stop to think of what the cost of this bus might be if was 100% American made? This is not fantasyland we’re living in folks.

It’s time to give your heads a shake. There’s very little left that can claim it’s 100%  American made nowadays. A quick look at your everyday ’stuff’ will probably show you parts of it was made in so and so country, but assembled elsewhere, or it’ll say, made in China.

One has to wonder why Fox, NYP, & the “gasp, how dare he” commentors have never questioned or bothered to mention, where Sarah Palins tour bus might have been made? Could it be the fact that Ms Palin is white, that the bus has not been an issue?

    Let me get this straight….

The Secret Service purchases two buses from an American company, and Fox News is reporting that President Obama is driving around the country in a Canadian bus.

Does anyone know where Sarah Palin’s bus comes from?

  • Anonymous

  • rjudge

It is being reported by the L.A. Times, with a direct quote from a Secret Service spokesman, that at the time the Secret Service ordered this bus, it was their understanding that this was the only company that could produce such a bus that would support the weight of all of the security and communications apparatus required to transport the President and/or Presidential candidates around in.

This is “manufactured outrage” by Fox and Friends, by Reince Priebus (chairman of the RNC), and others who talk about Obama’s “Canadian bus.”

  • Anonymous

I’m with you except for playing the race card. That was uncalled for and an embarrassment to the rest of your well thought out post.

The fact is that many “American” cars now have a body that was made in Canada. Those Fox folks should check out where their own cars were actually made before they complain. In fact, I challenge everyone who has agreed with Fox on this one to check their own vehicle, then come back here and tell me the body did not come from Canada. Unless, of course, it has a foreign name to begin with.

  • Anonymous

Canada is at least seven of them. :-)

If this bus thing was worth reporting, Fox should have done more than make snide remarks. A Fair and Balanced report would find out whether there even were any All American companies who could build a bus with All American parts. And if there are any such companies, how would the price compare with the actual purchase? Would it be only a few dollars more, or three times as much?
That would be a full FAIR AND BALANCED report.

  • rjudge

A Secret Service spokesman has said that when they ordered these 2 buses, this American company they ordered it from was the only company who could give them a bus that supported the weight of all of the security and communications apparatus.  Perhaps that $2.2M might have turned a few heads, but I doubt if those heads could have turned quick enough to produce a bus like this.  I am quite sure that the Secret Service know of the increased hatred of Obama and all of the lunatics out there, so I’m sure they wanted that bus as soon as possible.

Obama also said that he sees many Asian cars driving around in this country and that he wanted to see American cars being driven in other countries, including Asian countries.  Total protectionism will not help selling American-made products overseas.

  • rjudge

Exactly.  These are not “Obama’s” buses, and he did not order them.  And, while Obama is still President, that 2nd bus will be used by the Republican nominee for POTUS.

It should be noted that Bush used one of these buses during his 2004 campaign.  Other noted Republicans like Arnold Schwarzenegger, Rudi Giuliani, Fred Thompson, John McCain, and that greatest American of all, Sarah Palin, have used Hemphill Brothers’ buses.  Check out Hemphill Brothers’ web site under their client list, which also includes many country music stars and Christian/gospel music stars…..most of whom probably are conservative Republicans.

Obama should know better. He actually doesn’t know that the best selling care in China, and most of South America and Europe is made by FORD.

If I know that then why doesn’t he know that after all he’s the so-called leader of the free world.

I’ve come to the conclusion that he’s not that stupid but he thinks everyone else is stupid. Could it be that FORD refused to be taken over by Obama and his Liberal Government? Could be.

It’s all rhetoric from an idiot if he doesn’t know the facts on car sales.

  • http://games-survival.com Justplaythegame

Actually, there are ALL American parts and products that do compare in their fields. Offhand I know two in different fields. Henry Rifle and a place that makes chopsticks for china of all things.. Maybe Obama could have supported a USA company to start producing an all USA made one if not available. That would be a stimulus worth supporting. Cost more? maybe.. but not as much as losing yet more jobs to foreign countries and from our middle class.

It’s all up to how much “PROFIT” a company wants to make. They can be all USA made and support the country that provides them freedoms or they can be in my mind “treason’ish”(seeing thats popular word these days) in design and use slave labor from foreign countries. I try hard to avoid such “American’ish?” companies, even in favor of foreign. Don’t brag your an “American?” company while pissing on my leg. It’s hard today..Waves at Apple.. like Washington, greed usually wins out.

As for “From Canada”.. least they are on equal levels with the USA and not a slave labor mentality. I could not think of a better foreign country to make it.

Look at it the correct way.  A primary reason S&P downgraded our debt rating to AA+ is because, as they cited in their report, Congress couldn’t get its act together and come up with an agreement to lower our debt.  They waited until the last minute to come to an agreement.  Several times in that report, S&P talked about revenue increases, and while they are not in the business of telling us how to reduce debt, they did mention this, and their executives have also mentioned revenue increases/tax increases in interviews.

The republicans, notably their teaparty wing, are responsible for absolutely refusing to discuss any sort of tax increases, even for the most wealthy; even going so far as to not discuss any sort of reducing or eliminating tax loopholes.

Republicans F– = Total America-hating obstructionists who would rather see Obama fail and this country fail so they can gain power in 2012.

The president’s limo has been black since presidents had limos to ride in. The bus is simply the biggest presidential limo ever, and Americans like things big.

Interesting point about buses, American made, and infrastructure.

In the mid-1930s, GM made a big decision. GM was making most of the buses used for public transport, and of course making cars and trucks. Cities were ordering lots of buses from GM, but the CEO,  Alfred C. Sloan, Jr., decided that if he stopped making buses that could carry 30+ passengers and only made cars, he would be able to sell a whole lot more cars than buses, and at a much higher profit.
GM cut way back on making buses, cities couldn’t get enough of them, and lots of folks who wanted to ride the bus had to buy cars as the only alternative.

It was a big win for GM, but not for the cities and most people who now live in cities. Now, if we want more buses, we could get an American company to build them, but it will take more than two special buses to make it profitable.

All in all, you do see how stimulus spending would work, and that is great!

  • Anonymous

And the buses are now American “citizens” as much as Murdoch is.

Please see my comment about black being the color of our president’s limo since the first presidential limo, no doubt a horse-drawn carriage. It is tradition, and black is elegant. The bus is simply the biggest presidential limo yet, and we are not children who are frightened by something as simple as the color of a bus, are we?

We don’t want our president riding around in something gaudy, like Sarah Palin’s bus. For campaigning, it may be appropriate, but for the “presidential ride,” it would be gaudy.

Your mention that our troops do not goose-step is at best a weak amelioration of the fear factor that you are so concerned about.

I think you were trying to say that whoever chose the solid black color was not thinking the psychology through. I say that only paranoids and pre-pubescent children would genuinely fear a black bus.

That is what  Dwarf so crudely said.

I have already stated the obvious reason for solid black, so no need to say it yet again.

Once, again, the Secret Service ordered these buses.  The Secret Service is charged with protecting the President, the Vice President, former Presidents and VPs, their families, and others.  They are charged with this protection, regardless if the President or VP is a Democrat or a Republican.

While the President appoints the Director of the Secret Service, the current director, Mark J. Sullivan, was appointed in 2006 by George W. Bush.

I seriously doubt if Obama or his staff investigate things like this, at this level.  He trusts his Director of the Secret Service, appointed by Bush, to get things done.

Blame the Secret Service.  Heck, blame Bush for appointing the current director who probably is the one who ultimately approved buying these buses.

Then why did Obama say that he wanted to see only three words on products in the United States “Made in America”?

He said it not me. He’s riding around in a bus made in Canada, Not me! Why does he say things that are meaningless when he knows otherwise?

Those cars are made in those countries. Those cars are not being exported to those countries. those cars don’t help the employment situation in this country.

No, what Obama needs to do is to promote “Made in America” by lifting some of the restrictions that the Government puts on those companies who still manufacture in this country.

Maybe he should stop filing suits against companies who want to build manufacturing facilities in South Carolina because SC is a right to work State.

His speeches are the same old rhetoric that all Liberal Democrats spew in this country. He’s had 2 1/2 years and spent 4 trillion dollars so far and unemployment is at 9.1 % real unemployment is at 17%. 16 million people are out of work, houses are still being foreclosed on and manufacturing in this country has become non existent under Liberal rule.

Your thesis falls apart on this point – Congress and the President have had two and one half years to control spending, and instead of digging into this problem with a backhoe, they went in with toothpicks. There is a lot of unnecessary expenditures  – Like these two buses – going on and no one is putting the brakes on! The Republicans told the Democrats and the President that they would not consider revenue increases until substantial cuts were made in spending, the liberal side dug their heels in and threw a hysterical fit until some weak Republicans let them have their way.

It isn’t the revenue that is the problem – it is the quadrupling of the debt load that caused the drop in the credit rating. When are you guys going to get it that you cannot spend more than you take in, and that at the rate this administration is growing debt and spending like madmen no amount of increase in revenue can possibly keep up with the bleeding?

    It is the SPENDING.

Liberals grade – incomplete – did not finish the required course work to get even an F.

I don’t know if your statement about no President running for a 2nd term halfway through his first term, although you might be right.  However, Obama has not done this, either.  Halfway through Obama’s first term would have been in January, 2011, not August, 2011.  And, it has only been for 3 days, anyway.

However, I just wanted to point out something I find interesting.  In George W. Bush’s 2004 campaign, he used a bus made by this company that “Obama’s bus” came from in his “Yes, America Can” campaign.

And, by the way, your quote of “Watch the language, liberal fool” sounds like a pretty aggressive tone to me!

If he was so jobs oriented in the automotive industry, we should have steered clear of owning GM and Chrysler. Now he wants the Koreans to drive Chevrolets? The reason people buy KIA and Hyundai cars here is because they give a better value for less money. If they want to sell American cars here in America they need to bring prices down by cutting expenses. It doesn’t help the auto industry when the federal government is up their tailpipe so far with regulations and fines for stuff that doesn’t make cars any safer or cost less.

On the subject of one term presidency, here he is campaigning for that second term with well over a year of work to complete in order to put America back to work. also that same type BUS will be used by Republicans Pres hopefuls this year BUT dont let the facts get in the way

  • Anonymous

I do admit Obama has flaws, like all people do.  But to blame these buses on Obama, and to make a big issue out of it being a “Canadian” bus, is ridiculous.

It is sad that you cannot read and understand things.  As I have said, the Secret Service ordered this bus.  The man in charge of the Secret Service was appointed by Bush, not Obama.  I’m assuming that the Secret Service is a lot more knowledgeable about security than your are.  They have been concerned about the security when renting buses and retrofitting them for Presidential and Presidential candidate use in the past, every time a President needs to ride around in one.  That’s why they ordered these buses.

Should Obama or any other President fly on commercial or even private jets and not fly on Air Force One?

  • Brincar

oh and the head of the republican party Rush Limbaugh drives a MAYBACH..made in Germany.

  • Sandie

He was union jobs oriented at GM & Chrysler. He save their asses for putting his in office.

and Elvis was seen driving the bus

Huh?  Where did I say that Republicans are not saying we need American jobs?

This is what I said:  “They (Republicans) are thumping their chests and saying how they will bring jobs back to America.”

What I also said was that “IF,” and I said, “IF” Republicans were not campaigning on jobs, then would you vote for one?  I said this because you seem to take issue with Obama talking about jobs.  So if you take issue with Obama talking about  jobs, then it seems you might take issue from republicans talking about jobs.  Why can they talk about jobs but Obama not talk about them, even if he hasn’t been successful so far in creating many jobs?

Yes, I agree, and I know, that jobs are not being created even close to where we should be.   But Obama isn’t giving up on trying to do something, in spite of the fact that Republicans have obstructed him so many times, not only on the jobs issue, but also on many other issues.

  • Brincar

but in his defense his butler Snerdley does the grocery shopping in a GM suv

  • Rob

Listening to these people trying to form sentences is like banging my head up against a wall. It seems like that would be more productive though.

These people will find a problem with everything this president does. It’s sad, really.

I will remind you that you did say this:

there is something brutally cavalier about what I perceive as a lack of
concern for the republican process in America, by Obama and company.
As if we are all on the train to nowhere and we are going to like it,
    or else!

That removes the humor from what otherwise would have gotten my Like vote as recognition that the color is not significant.
I doubt that you would perceive the color as brutally cavalier if any previous (Republican?) president had used it. Your attempt to get more like votes from the like minded conservatives is obvious.

As I said, an unbiased thinker would quickly recognize that black is the standard color for presidential vehicles, with the exception of Air Force one, which you don’t want to be black because it would become invisible at night and or mistaken for a warplane. Nobody would want that.

A black bus is no more threatening than a red bus.

Would you have preferred Greyhound grey?

I also want to point out a couple of things republican candidates have said which, I believe, are unsubstantiated.

    1.  Michele Bachmann and her husband have a familiy business.  She says she ”knows how to create jobs.”  I will be honest and admit I do not know how many jobs she has created, but I’d bet money it is a very small number.  I believe Obama and the OMB when they say that the stimulus plan saved or created 2 or 3 million jobs.

    2.  And, speaking of stimulus, Rick Perry has decried it, and he is the one boasting about how many jobs he has created.  But, he has personally lobbied for not only Obama’s stimulus, but stimulus from the previous administration.  His state has received many billions in federal stimulus money this past decade.  Since 2000, private sector employment has risen by 9%.  Public sector employment has risen by 19%.  These figures are from a recent Wall Street Journal article which I have posted somewhere on this thread…..you can look it up yourself.  The “great recession” officially started in December, 2007.  Since 2008, Perry has accepted 17 billion dollars in federal stimulus money.  Must of this has gone into growing the public/government sector job growth.  That WSJ journal article points out that there is concern about what will happen when Texas starts to actually cut its budget and what will happen to those government jobs.  You can also find from various credible sources that most of the job growth in Texas since 2008 has come from public sector/government jobs.

My point is this:  I have been saying for the past few years that I don’t think anyone really has the answer on how to grow jobs.  But, yes, my bias says that stimulus will do more for job growth than cutting taxes.  Many prominent Republicans, including former Bush and Reagan treasury/budget people, say that cutting taxes will not increase jobs.

Look at the Great Depression.  We eventually got out of that by WWII, when taxes on the most wealthy were very high…..and they continued being very high (90%+) for many years after that.    Eisenhower, a Republican, continued these very high tax rates and used some of that money to build our highway system.

Some feel that Obama’s stimulus was too small and, in fact, some 30% to 40% of it was actually tax breaks.

So, getting back to my point:  I don’t think any of the Republican candidates actually have any good job creating experience.

If you’re going to criticize Obama for his talk about jobs, also criticize these Republicans on their actual records of job creation.

And, yes, this article is not about the stuff I just wrote about, but you challenged me with the typical conservative talking point that I don’t use facts to back up things I say.

He should be criticized on major items, just as any other President or any other person, for that matter.  But he shouldn’t be attacked on stupid things like this bus.

Obama should not have been attacked by that doctor in Florida who, a couple of years ago, sent around a picture of the President dressed up as a witch doctor.  Michelle should not have been attacked by that state senator from Tennessee who compared her to a gorilla.    She also shouldn’t be attacked by those who decry her push for healthy eating.

Obama should not have been attacked 8 months into his Presidency by most of the conservative punditry and some conservative politicians when he was preparing to speak to school children about the importance of school and the importance of striving for excellence.  These idiots were predicting that this was something Chairman Mao would have done.

Obama should never have been attacked by the birthers.  He never should have been attacked, as he still is, as being a “secret” Muslim from Kenya.  He never should have been attacked by the likes of Glenn Beck who used the Nazi/Hitler comparison literally hundreds of times when talking about Obama and his administration.  These crazies have increased the level of hatred and animosity and lack of civil discussion in this country by huge amounts.

Since day 1 of his Presidency, and actually, during the 2008 Presidential campaign, Obama has been attacked by the right for stupid things, and even if they were not stupid things, he has been attacked in the worst way, being compared to Nazis, Maoists, fascists, Stalinists, etc.

This bus thing is just another example.

The other two credit rating agencies, Moody’s and Fitch’s, have kept their AAA rating for our debt rating.

S&P did indeed note that one of the reasons for lowering our debt rating is because Congress couldn’t agree on how to bring the debt down.  Be honest…..Congress has a much lower approval rating than Obama does.  A very high percentage of Americans disapprove of Congress.  It’s not just the debt rating issue; it’s many, many issues.

Note that in the 111th Congress, Republicans filibuster more than any other Congress in history.

Yes, we have to do something drastic about our debt, and, yes, revenue increases alone will not solve the problem.  There needs to be a combination of revenue increases as well as cuts.  And, note, Obama did offer Boehner substantially more cuts than the final Congressional agreement a couple of weeks ago, but under pressure from the tea party, Boehner refused Obama’s offer because it included some tax increases.

Again, the other 2 ratings’ agencies kept our rating at AAA, but I’d have a lot of trouble, like  most Americans, with the fact that Congress cannot compromise.  Perhaps, if Boehner would have agreed to those tax increases, S&P might not have lowered our debt rating.

One last point…..after S&P downgraded us, you will recall that the following Monday, the stock market dropped some 500 points.  Do you know where much of that money went to?  It went to U.S. treasury bonds, the ones which had just been downgraded to AA+.  Investors still believe government bonds are very safe investments.

Yes, doodaddio, I realize that there are things out there that can destroy those buses.  But those things, like rocket-fired missiles, ard hard to come by, and those things can also be shot at an airplane.  I’m sure these same things would even have a much easier time bringing down a slow moving Marine One helicopter or even a slightly faster moving armored limousine.

I hope if you believe the President should not be riding around in these buses that the Republican nominee also should not be riding around in them.

If they are “nightmare” for the Secret Service, I wonder why they ordered these buses?

Another case of Obama doing the opposite of what he preaches to America – these things are fuel hogs and even more so with all the armor and other stuff they crammed on board. A normal RV of Class A size gets about 5 miles per gallon of fuel, under ideal atmospheric conditions on a flat zero incline road – talk about a “carbon footprint”!

They are a colossal waste of taxpayer dollars, just to serve the vanity of his royal highness.

  • Anonymous

Yes, Sandie.  I do understand that.  But you are a hopeless case if you, as most Republicans believe, that we should eliminate this debt problem entirely on the backs of the poor and middle class.  It angers me so much that Bush introduced his tax breaks, which benefited mainly the wealthy, and those tax breaks did little to robustly help our economy.  In fact, please remember that the great recession started in December 2007, under Bush’s watch.  Bush also started 2 unfunded wars; he is the only President in our history who has not increased taxes during a time of war.  So when Republicans now want to balance the budget off the poor and middle class, what they effectively doing is helping to pay for Bush’s mistakes only by hurting the poor and middle class.  Yes, Obama has also contributed to the debt problem, but so has Bush, and he has contributed a lot to the problem.

Republicans also talk about “generational theft.”   But what about all of those people who have put good money into the system for decades, especially those under 55 and are currently long-term unemployed?  I use the age of 55 because that’s the age at which the Ryan plan starts to cut Social Security and Medicare benefits to people.  And I often see that long-term unemployed people in this age group are “unemployable.”

More and more Republicans are coming out and saying that lowering taxes will not create more jobs and, therefore, will not increase revenue, as many Reaganites continue to say.

David Stockman, director of the OMB under Reagan, has made comments along these lines.  Bruce Bartlett, a treasury official under Bush the second, also believes tax decreases will not help with job creation.

Alan Simpson, former Republican senator and head of Obama’s fiscal responsibility commission, is another one who believes this.

Bill Gross is the founder and still managing director of PIMCO, the world’s largest bond fund.  He is a very wealthy man and is known as a fiscal conservative.   2 or 3 months ago, Bill Gross wrote a letter to shareholders, telling them that introducing fiscal conservatism quickly will likely hurt our economy even more.  He even has suggested that we might need more stimulus.

Right after Congress came to an agreement on increasing the debt ceiling, Bill Gross said that the agreement did not go far enough.  He said that we need to cut trillions from the budget, but he also said that we need to increase tax revenue, also by trillions.

You do know that Warren Buffet this week said Congress should increase taxes on the most wealthy people in this country.  Donald Trump said the same thing this week.

And, while Republicans like to cite Ronald Reagan as their hero, Reagan actually increased taxes a number of times, even though he didn’t want to…..but he realized that he needed to do so.  In fact, one of those tax increases was the largest peacetime increase in history at that point.

While increase tax revenue might affect only a small percentage of our debt problem, we do need a combination of spending cuts as well as tax revenue increases.  After all, when John Boehner first became Speaker of the House, he was asked how cutting money to NPR and PBS would help our debt problem when the money going to NPR/PBS is only a couple of hundred million dollars.  His response?  Well, it’s a start.

Wrong smart guy – let’s see if you can understand this:

The Tea Party wants The Constitution of the United States of America to be the foundation upon which all federal government officials perform their duty. First and foremost it is about lawful governance.

You would know that if you weren’t such a smarmy twit.

Most of what you liberals say about the Tea Party is insults and ignorant statements based on propaganda created by your leaders who don’t have a clue about the Tea Party other than their fear that it will put them out on the street. Their fear is justified, but their lies are not. Why would any honest person in government who is doing their job to the best of their ability, in accordance to The Constitution and other laws have anything to fear?

The point is they wouldn’t – the liars, cheaters, thieves, and worse should fear people standing up for the freedom and rights of all mankind. Follow the rules, don’t break the law and take care of the nation’s business in a responsible manner.

The job creators are not going to hire more people until there is demand for their products.  Demand will only go down if public workers continue to get laid off or have to pay even more for their benefits.

If you got laid off, wouldn’t you stop buying things other than the most essential things?  If you had to pay a couple of more thousands of dollars for your benefits, wouldn’t you spend less on non-essential things?

Presidential candidate and governor of Texas, Rick Perry, is bragging about all of the jobs he has created since the great recession started.  In fact, most of the jobs created were government jobs which were funded by federal stimulus money.  In fact, private sector jobs actually decreased by a small amount these past few years in Texas.

The Wall Street Journal has written a recent article along these lines, and they wonder what will happen in Texas once they start cutting and implementing governmental budget cuts.  Rick Perry’s office has yet to respond to questions about this.

i find it completely legit to point out the irony of the President on a *bring the jobs back to this country* bus tour using a bus built in another country.

    This from the president’s itinerary:
“[The president] will continue the ‘Yes, America Can’ bus tour with three stops in Iowa and Wisconsin. The president will participate in events focused on strength, optimism and resolve of the American people in … strengthening our economy, making our communities better and keeping America safe …
“[The president] will discuss his plan for growing the economy and ensuring that every American who wants a job can find one …”
The “Yes, America Can” bus in was made in Canada by Prevost. One of the president’s critics said, “Seeing the president drive around in his Canadian-made luxury bus is just another reminder of [his] failed economic policies.”
This story is not from this week or even this year. It’s not about Barack Obama.
It’s from the spring of 2005, when President Bush was on tour.So not only did Obama not come up with the concept of tooling around the Heartland in a Canadian-made luxury bus — even the ol’ “Yes We Can” slogan is just an update on “Yes, American Can.”

    http://www.suntimes.com/news/roeper/7122208-417/bus-made-in-canada-nothing-new-for-president.html

Just as the exact point was made about Bush in 2005. See, people, nothing new. Dems threw the same hissy fits over Bush for 8 years. And it wasn’t about Bush’s skin color, then, either.

I think one question is how exactly we address spending. Lot’s of folks , including older conservatives, understand that slash and burn spending cuts to entitlements will harm those who can afford it the least. There’s also an issue of elected officials who rant against spending but continue to get federal money. We need long term vision and won’t have it as long as we think one or two election cycles, and switching parties alone, will solve things. Why aren’t any of the GOP candidates {except Ron Paul} talking about cuts in defense such as ending our involvement in Afghanistan? I haven’t been happy with Obama either and I voted for him, but let’s face it. The policies that got us into this economic situation started long before Obama took office. One thing this admin has convinced me of is that no president will fix anything as long as corruption is rampant in DC. While the media focuses on minor and contrived controversy we are missing relevant issues. IMO, the public needs to demand factual information on more relevant issues and encourage the sources that provide it.

I also agree that we don’t need another agency created. I wondered when the dept of Homeland security was created. OTOH, I don’t have a problem with spending on infrastructure to generate some jobs. It’s unclear to me why that hasn’t happened. We can blow other countries to hell and then spend billions rebuilding them but can’t invest in rebuilding our own?  I think it’s part of the normal cycle of politics and government to examine government agencies and make sure they are still serving a necessary purpose and running efficiently. Society and government are not stagnant. regular maintenance should be expected.

You people sound like you live in a clam shell. Why are shitting on your best friend? Those evil Canadians, eh? Do you know how many soldiers we lost in Aghanistan fighting the Taliban? I bet you don’t. We fought alongside Americans where the rest of the international forces refused to go. Canadians went there and stayed in the shit and fought and died, and this is the way you talk about us? Where is your fucking head anyway?

Thankyou, i420 and Will. At least someone down there is paying attention. We appreciate your appreciation. Also remember our boys fought in the shit in Afghanistan where many of the international forces refused to go. We fought alongside the Americans (who told us we were “fuckin’ good soldiers”). We lost 154 soldiers. And now these guys are talking about us like we’re a fucking leper colony up here. Most of these bloggers here don’t know anything about the immense trade between the USA and Canada, nor do they know anything about Canadians. Even though Limbaugh and Hannity have claimed that the rate was 3.6 or something when Obama took office there’s an article on mediaite that says it was actually well over 7 and hit 9 before any of his policies went into effect. If we’re going to criticize this admin then let’s at least do it faced on the facts.

Work is about producing goods and services, not emotion.

IMO, it’s finding the balance of both. There are economic principles of supply and demand and jobs created by people with vision and willing to take a risk, but there’s also an ethical responsibility to the society that business exists in. That’s where proper regulation comes in.

Liberals use emotional appeals to keep spending at all time high levels
while demanding that the rich pay more and more to sustain the people
who have no self motivation to work.

Wow! That’s quite a broad generalization. The GOP has consistently used emotional appeals to religion, patriotism, the list goes on. Both sides use inflated emotional appeals as part of politics. No doubt there are people who abuse the system and look for a free ride. That’s one end of the spectrum. We need to also look at corruption and abuse at the other end as well, rather than pretend it doesn’t exist. A good society exists when ethical business people offer decent jobs that pay a living wage and the basics are within reach of more of the population.

I do completely agree that we need to promote the attitude that everyone needs to do what they are able to contribute to society rather than just take. However, we need to be realistic in dealing with the poor.

What if it was a blue politician? You know, as long as you are basing your argument on hypotheticals. C’mon – color had nothing to do with this report or any other report from Fox or any other news outlet. The race card has already become tiresome in the realm of politics and throwing it down in a situation like this just confirms people like you have too few actual incidents of real racism to which you can refer and too few valid arguments with which to defend this president. I would keep that arrow in your quiver until it’s legit, or nobody will care even then. Can I still say arrow? Too vitriolic?

Having said that, I have to agree with the rest of your post. This is really a non-issue. An American made vehicle would be great, sure, but this ain’t exactly a factory-equipped Ford F-150 and I assume the after-market parts are a little specialized. I can’t stand Obama’s policies, his incompetence, or his arrogant lecturing, but he holds the office of President of the United States and being voted out is the only way I want to see him gone. I honestly don’t think the origin of ANY part of these vehicles bears mentioning at all.Their primary function is to protect our leaders-left and right-, so…whatever gets the job done.

Now, taking a photo-op with unemployed folks on the way to another vacation at Martha’s Vineyard while the country is in economic crisis? That’s a little out of touch and Obama deserves more criticism than he’s gotten for that. But then, I’m apparently a racist or something.

Calm down.  Where did I denigrate Canada or Canadians?  I have no problem with trading with Canada and fully understand your contributions in Afghanistan.  The crux of the point is the American president’s continual do-as-I-say-not-as-I-do schtick.  He is a walking talking contradiction.  THAT’s the point.  My fucking head is right where it needs to be…. vetting this president and holding him to his own comments, assertions and exhortations.  He talks down to the American people and to American businessmen seemingly everyday.  And we’re sick of it.   Again, calm down.

So where should he have gone to buy an All American bus?

  • Rnyuk

So much for Fox and Friends with their fair and balanced news. They forgot to mention to their audience that a similar bus was ordered for the GOP presidential candidate. They also forgot to mention that a bus used by bush/Chaney in 2004 was made by the same Canadian company.

I did not say a goose step is not threatening, but now that you mention it, it is just silly. I laugh at the armies that use it on parade, and feel sorry for the soldiers who have to do it.

You ignore my more logical comment that all presidential ground vehicles have been black. You have no reasonable response to that, so you choose to use straw man, ad hominem attacks as a diversion.

Sharper your debating skills by learning to cede a point now and then, or at least come back with facts. Perhaps you can prove that a previous president used a deep blue limo? A while limo? A tangerine limo?

#4 on Alinsky’s tactics AAAND the race card seems like a bit of overkill. Just sayin’.

I think this story is much ado about nothing, true or not. But, considering the speed with which you pull the race card, you strike me as someone who defines “lies” as – anything with which you do not agree. Additionally, I’m betting you define “hate speech” as – anything with which you do not agree.
Am I in the ballpark there?
How would you feel about passing a law regulating Fox News’s reporting?

  • Srfgeauxtigers

Dont think you can really call that a hissy?

  • http://www.sarainitalyblog.blogspot.com/ sarainitaly

give it another read, and see if you can find the point this time.

  • DoesThisOffendYou

Umm, did anybody here notice that Dylan Ratigan also
negatively commented about the bus purchase?
So can somebody enlighten me about his hidden agenda?  BTW – FOX Noise sucks and, for the most part,
MSNBC does too.  So political party hacks
    need not reply.

I said nothing about the goose step. That is your straw man. I laugh at dictators who demand that their soldiers goose step, and feel sorry for the soldiers who have to do it. It must must be hard on the joints.

Instead of responding with straw man and ad hominem attacks, try finding proof that any other president had a vehicle of any other color as his official limo.

  • Anonymous

    LOL, LMAO, HLO.

I still challenge you to find a presidential limo that was not black.

  • Anonymous

Right. The point is that the Fox Fools should have left the bus thing alone.

But they didn’t. They only embarrassed themselves once again.

Where have you been Dan? I do like how you twisted the context of my comment to gain another opportunity to bash Bush and Reagan. I know how it compares to other presidents because I have watched 11 of them in my lifetime. I don’t need a book to tell me what I learned from life experience.

SO WHERE IS ABC NEWS THAT DID AN INVESTIGATIVE REPORT ON WHERE THE T-SHIRTS OF REPUBLICAN CANDIDATES WERE MADE??

  • Canuck in Good Old NC!

HI Folks – - I am a Canadian who has lived and worked (and paid taxes) here in the US for several years. Americans have been absolutely wonderful and accepting of my family and me. We Canadians are not your enemy. US in Desert Storm (in 1991) and currently in Afghanistan. You buy our oil, you buy our resources, your companies have franchises and manufacturing plants in Canada. As well, Canadians buy a lot of American-made goods. Do we have a Free Trade Agreement with you or don’t we. What are we supposed to do? Should we send our recently-purchased F35 jets back to you because they were made in the USA? We really need to know what you guys want. I don’t think we’re going to get an answer anytime soon, because you folks are too busy fighting amongst yourselves. But if you can get back to us real soon, that would be great. I really like the US and all of you, but you guys are sort of making it hard on everyone. It’s getting harder to defend you when I travel back home, and the people there want to start talking more with China and Europe. Guys – we can do this, right?

About 10 years ago, I got real interested in the Korean War and did a lot of reading. All philosophical musings aside, Korea was awful war with an enemy that did not treat people or POWs humanely. Yet, typically we did treat them well, to our disadvantage. There was a terrible riot of Communist prisoners on an island off South Korea and Americans died. Just like the Pueblo and Mayaguez incidents, we let North Korea/Cambodia get away with too much…

  • Anonymous

Yes. And we had American soldiers guarding the supply “dumps” during the war, but had to remove them and replace them with Korean guards because the (we) Americans wouldn’t shoot the children who tried to steal the food. Korean guards would.
Of course it is cruel, but the children stopped trying. Drastic but effective.

That’s one I never heard! That is “Real Politik”, the quintessence. One of the best books I ever read was “Breakout” by Martin Russ. About the Chosin Reservoir campaign. In fact, I read it twice, something I seldom do. Thanks for that tid bit of reality. I enjoy reading about the great fighter pilots and our good friends the British, who supplied the Soviets with the engine for the MiG 15? Ouch
