Fox’s Geraldo Rivera Caught In Crossfire Between Rebels And Gaddafi’s Snipers

Video

Geraldo Rivera reporting from Libya truly demonstrates the great lengths he will go in order to report a story, as he found himself in the middle of crossfire between an “unruly gang” of Libyan rebels and the professional snipers from Gaddafi’s forces. Geraldo quickly ducks for cover, and the brave crew keeps the camera rolling.

Rivera described the chaotic experience:

“It was a wild, wild scene. And I was as worried about getting shot in the back by the good guys, as I was about getting shot in the front by the Gaddafi forces.”

Also with his on-the-ground knowledge, Rivera provides a startling assessment of the “rebel army,” suggesting they “have the fire discipline of an L.A. street gang.” As a result, Rivera advises against NATO or America arming the rebels, because if the rebels had more weapons, Geraldo predicts they would be a “grave danger to themselves and others [since] they don’t know how to use these weapons.”

Too bad no one could manage to shoot off that horrible mustache.

  • Thelonious Funk

They were both aiming for him?

  • The Tea Weasel®

Is he over there looking for Al Capone’s stash?

  • Anne 1

He might want to check with Hillary , for tips on dealing with PTSD .

  • OxyCon

It’s not hard to imagine that Geraldo scouted out the best spot to make it look like he was in the most danger.

    LOL!

  • Barack Must Go

Wait, I’m confused. ( go ahead, make your day )

How did the two warring factions both make it up & into Geraldo’s room on the fourth floor, undetected, and at the same time.

Oh, probably while he and and his unprofessional, lazy crew were looking out the window at those brave women ( Engel & Cooper ) putting their respective lives on the line, buying a goat balls sandwich from Akmed’s lunch truck / rebel transport vehicle parked just outside the lobby below.

Let’s see how, or even if this story plays out on the ‘ Morning Jokes ‘ MSM morning programs around the dial early tomorrow morning.

After watching clips of Geraldo during Katrina, i got nothing bad to say about the guy.

If only that were startling, and not fairly common knowledge. These guys have been firing all sorts of weapons wildly from the get go. I can’t recall which retired general it was, but one of them recently said something to the effect that an army that puts more bullets in the air than it does on the enemy is not going to be an effective army.

Week 2 since Barack Obama said our involvement in Libya would last days, not weeks.

‘So Mr. Rivera, you still consider yourself a Journalist?’

    Geraldo:
‘Well, no-but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night.’

But, but he works for that eeeevil Faux News. He deserves to be shot!

Just to be sure, and to remind Libs of their utter stupidity, this whole thing was supposed to be ‘over’ in a ‘matter of days,’ right?

Republicans are the last people who should open their pieholes about anything related to wars.

If anyone is on the fence about the Libya invasion, watching this freak show last night would make one against said invasion. He interviewed americans who refuse to leave Libya because they call it home. These morons then go on to cry and whine about how scared they are of the Quaddafi regime. First they insist they won’t leave and then they pronounce that if Quaddifi remains in power they will be forced to return to the USA. Are these the morons we are fighting for over there? I was so angry I will probably never watch his stupid show again because he really believes that these idiots need to be protected with US troops.

Geraldo = sensationalism = bogus! The opposition forces don’t stand a chance with Rivera there – he’s infamous for drawing a map in the sand! He must have watched Richard Engel’s close encounter – then he had no choice but to play ‘can you top this’!

  • felixw

Say what you will about Geraldo, but after decades in the industry he still takes the tough, dangerous assignments on short notice. And when he gets out in the field, he works hard to get the story, often in the face of serious obstacles. There was a point — back in the days of Al Capone’s vault — that he was something of a joke. But he has proven himself over the years, and Mr. Rivera has certainly earned my respect.

Said the person whose hero, Obamo, can’t keep his piehole shut about ANYTHING and seems to yack LOUDEST about things he knows NOTHING about (jobs, health-care, NCAA basketball teams).

It is a poor time to be an Obamo breast-feeder.

He’s more of a journalist than anyone on MSNBC.

  • pansycritter

Rivera is a buffoon and certainly not a journalist. He deals strictly in emotion and wouldn’t know a fact if it slapped him in the face. He’s there only to glorify Rivera, not to “report”. How’s that hunt for Al Capone’s gold going there Mr. Rivera?

  • notsofast

Christ, that’s what happens to Geraldo when he broadcasts from the Red Carpet.

Well then, he’ll be easy to beat in 2012, won’t he.

Uh hoh please…like he was in danger. You call that a fire fight….?
Geraldo had better hope that no one there who can understand english saw the way he was stabbing them in the back on T.V.
He literally just told the whole world that the rebels were a joke.
I’m sure some of Gaddaffi’s people were watching all that helpful information.

  • eingriff

Couldn’t happen to a nicer guy, except maybe Chris Matthews.

  • BatBoy

I would say both the Rebels And Gaddafi’s Snipers blew it!

No, white “liberal’s” infact voted for Obama only out of white guilt and no other reason.
Think about it, why else would they vote for a guy who only has two years experience in government.
20 years as an urban sheep herder is not POTUS material, It’s more like parole officer material.
Mccain was a bad choice as well, The 2008 election was nothing more then a popularity contest between a douche and turdsandwich.

  • captaingrumpy

I gave the snipers $100 and they missed. DAMN

  • writer

Where is Al Capone’s vault when he needs it?

  • murf

    Pfffft.. Calling bullshit.

Is it my imagination or isn’t it funny that everytime Geraldo is doing a story something almost happens to him to make it look like he’s in danger. Call me a skeptic but I think it was staged. Just saying.

Maybe cause we were sick of the same old same old. Kind of like the tea party, cept we’re not racist.

Well they missed . Might be why Steve Harrington (or what ever the Fox guys name is . ) Is always reporting from his hotel balcony .

  • BushClintonCrimeFamily

Totally staged , like most Geraldo reports. Anybody remember him putting the lady in the wheelchair BACK IN THE HOUSE, so he could be the one to rescue her from her Katrina flooded house? Idiot. And so are the people who watch his network.

  • Color Me Badd

I bet it was the skinheads they are still pissed.

  • Color Me Badd

Definitive proof that Fox News is a joke.

  • THE REAL ROYAL KING

Yes, it was staged, as usual, but the report was actually at the scene, not from a hotel terrace. Geraldo ain’t much, but he’s the best FOX “News” has.

  • RowdyHoward

If we’re lucky, they will give him a show over there so he doesn’t return here.

Not your imagination. He likes to put on a show. Total phony.

  • Quite the Pundint

My big brother was in the National Guard in the 70′s with a guy who was Geraldo’s cameraman in the Ch. 7 Eyewitness News days. He talked about shooting multiple “takes” of Geraldo climbing over a fence “breaking in” to Willowbrook State School while reporting the story that first brought him fame. I have a hard time believing this clip isn’t staged somehow.

    This is amazing.

You don’t know exactly how the snide, dismissive, narrative-feeding insult is supposed to go, or who it’s directed against, but you’re giving it the college try.

See? This guy knows how to resurrect the classless act of Nic Robertson (of criticizing a fellow reporter for a story broke halfway around the world – essentially attacking not only the messenger but the employee of the messenger; because – you know – Fox) and propagate the douche move ad nauseum.

I’m entirely certain that a cagey man can follow Geraldo Rivera around with a hidden-camera and discredit him and the entire generation of *action news guys* who mimicked him.

Without a doubt a gunshot was heard somewhere in the distance. I’m almost as certain Geraldo, by blowing it out of proportion with his classic duck for the camera mugging, probably spread the panic on which he later reported to the unit he was accompanying.
