Here’s The Most-Watched Bin Laden Video On NBC’s Near Record Setting Day

The death of Osama bin Laden sent millions to their computers to catch up on the story by watching web video, with NBC News digital’s msnbc.com having its second best day ever, with 21 million streams by 6 p.m. Monday evening. Of the top twenty most popular videos, all were related to the capture and killing of bin Laden.

The most-viewed video had 3 million streams, and was a TODAY show report by NBC’s Jim Miklaszewski on the operation that successfully landed SEALS into bin Laden’s compound in Pakistan.

NBC’s digital power is impressive, with the Miklaszewski report getting more streams than a far more high profile–and exclusive–report on ABC featuring video shot inside the bin Laden compound.

Here’s the NBC’s most popular story, from NBC News:

NBC and ABC both did wonderful work covering this story, and I congratulate and thank them. Cable “news” has a very small, but loud, shrill and often emotionally unbalanced following which sometimes detracts from the well-established fact that it is to broadcast news that most Americans turn for breaking stories and for the most impartial coverage presently available in America.

Again, many thanks NBC and ABC.

We the American people thank Robert for his ” information” and unbiased “facts” , however unreliable , strange and partisan they may be .

Yes indeed, thanks to the State Run media outlets for having more details and advanced notice than the rest of the world. Not surprising. GE, they bring good things to life!

I usually agree with King but this time I have to add that more and more Americans are taking to social media – in my case Twitter – even when I am also watching a breaking news story. I check to see what is trending and (after I get the latest Bieber updates) I can usually get to the heart of just about any big story while also getting a myriad of different opinions on same. Something all newspeople can learn is that 140 characters is plenty to get the basic facts out.

I couldn’t possibly have typed that with a straight finger.

I wish web viewing would somehow be factored in when they determine ratings. I’m 22 and I don’t have cable, but I watch MSNBC online everyday, and I know most of my friends go there for news footage. The people who watch MSNBC are a younger demographic than those who watch FOX, and if they’re like me they generally watch a lot of tv on their computers rather than on a traditional television. IMSNBC’s ratings would probably be a lot more competitive with FOX if online viewing was taken into account.

    You may have a point.
Once you mature to that point where all that preaching your parents did starts to make sense to you…
Maybe you will understand why adults tune in to FOX.
Maybe you will begin to understand that experience means something.
Not saying FOX is THE NEWS TO WATCH, only that your horizons would be better served by a variety of Us and Them.
    Just saying.

YOU TURN TO FOX BECAUSE YOU ENJOY THE FORCE FEEDING OF BULLSHIT! DOES NOT TAKE A SO CALLED “ADULT” TO FIGURE IT OUT ! BUT THEN AGAIN ITS EASY TO SEE YOUR PARENTS TAUGHT YOU TO FOLLOW IDIOTS BLINDLY AND NOT THINK FOR YOURSELF!

If by adults, you mean people over 55 then yeah, FOX is the go-to channel. Then again, older people are also the ones who statistically fall for scams more often too. Are you actually trying to imply that old age somehow implies greater ability to comprehend facts and analysis? There are just as many idiot 60 year olds are there are idiot 20 year olds. They just show it differently. I get plenty of viewpoint variety in the news I take in. I check Drudge just as often as I check CNN and HuffPost, but I won’t go near FOX. Their reporting is entirely emotion-based rather than fact-based and I want nothing to do with it.

Frontline has a very good special right now on the Taliban/OBL/Al-Qaeda.
