Karl Rove On Rick Perry: ‘I Didn’t Realize I Was Under His Personal Care’

video

Appearing on America Live Thursday, Karl Rove responded to Rick Perry‘s slam of him at last night’s debate, saying “I didn’t realize I was under his personal care.”

At last night’s Republican debate, when questioned over Karl Rove’s criticism of his labeling of Social Security as a “Ponzi scheme”, Perry hit back, saying “Karl’s been over the top for a long time in some of his remarks, so I’m not responsible for Karl anymore.”

Rove described his name being mentioned at a Presidential debate as an “odd moment”, but held firm to his criticism. “Governor Perry is responsible for what he writes and says,” Rove said. “What’s he upset about?”

“If you’re the governor of Texas, and you say I’m running for president and Social Security by any measure is a failure, if you say it is a violation of potentially the constitution, the federal government has no responsibility for either Social Security/Medicare and it ought to be returned to the states, then you have a responsibility to explain that to the American people, if you want to win, in a way that’s reassuring.”

Rove did have some nice things to say about the Texas Governor, describing him as “passionate, provocative, Texan to his core,” who “tends to drop his g’s like we in Texas tend to do,” and that if he ultimately became the Republican’s nominee, he wanted him to win.

Ruling Class Establishmentarian Rove has bashed Palin, the Tea Party, the lunatic-left and anybody and everybody who thinks “W” and his administration was a disaster (which includes a lot of responsible Republicans and conservatives).  Rove is now hated by almost as broad a spectrum of people as is “You Lie!” hussein. He musty be feeling awful about the fact that he’s in the same boat as the Worst President of Modern America. Based on that, I have to admit I actually feel a little bit sorry for rove – though not much. Like “You Lie!” rove deserves to be spit on.

The FACT is SS is a ponzi scheme….I guess the people would rather be lied to and told it is secure and doing well.
The FACT is 3 people work for every 1 retiree. It used to be over 30 people working for every 1 retiree!! Soon it will be 2-1!!
It is simply unsustainable the way it is currently set up….it needs to be drastically modified!!

Facts are facts regardless what people want them to be!!

Excellent idea to do a another story on Rove and Perry to avoid talking about Obama’s pet green company , Solyndra , which is being raided by the FBI right now following their bankruptcy
(costing the taxpayers a mere $535 million).

We saving a lot of money on those White House solar panels that Obama ordered a year and a half ago ?

  • Anonymous

Rove and others are just trying to save their jobs.  Perry has locked out those who worked against him and now their livelihoods are on the line.

The mantra of the republican strategist against Perry: Self and Democrats above Perry and Nation.

  • Anonymous

Good one bigeddieguy – excellent point.
A Solyndra story might be nice; it would especially be funny to see how Tommy would spin it as a positive for Obama.

It is time for Rove and other wimpy republicans to stop be afraid of telling the truth about social security.
Perry will win on the issue. Everyone knows social security is a scam. As long as the seniors know that NO republican plan changes their benifits. The change is for those 55 and younger.
Rove needs to call out the democrats for lying about social security and lying about the republicans taking benifits away from current seniors. Remember since Obama took office the current seniors have not recieved a raise and their medicare payments have gone UP. SOOOOOOO it is Obama that has hurt seniors for the last three years.

Solyndra is certainly Obama’s Halliburton… minus the direct ties to the administration, expansive fraud and abuse, unusual financial costs and profit generated from an unfunded mission that drove the deficit skyward.  Besides all that… pretty much the same thing.

  • Richie

This is going to be awesome. Turdblossom is turning in his sleep. He does not want Perry to be the nominee for many reasons most especially because he knows Perry could further sink the Bush legacy. Rove is a scumbags scumbag. He accused John McCain of fathering an illegitimate child to seal the deal in 2000. He painted John Kerry as not a patriot in 2004. He escaped prison over the Valerie Plame and Bush attorney scandals. It’s time for Bush’s sewer to drink lead. Give the scumbag hellll Perry.

I notice the Solyndra story is oddly missing.  How come Mediaite. Just pretend George Bush gave this company $500M+ and now it is being raided by the FBI.

“According to White House visitor logs, between March 12, 2009, and April
14, 2011, Solyndra officials and investors made no fewer than 20 trips
to the West Wing. In the week before the administration awarded Solyndra
with the first-ever alternative energy loan guarantee on March 20, four
    separate visits were logged.

Of course we also have the NLRB trying to prevent Boeing from opening a non Union plant in SC.

There’s also the raid on Gibson guitars, a non union and GOP supporting company who’s competitors use the SAME wood.

Or Jeffery Immelt, CEO of GE being on Obama’s Job Creation board, who’s company paid no taxes, shipped jobs overseas, and received stimulus.

Or Goldman Sachs, Obama’s second largest contributor to his 2008 campaign and who happen to be littered throughout his cabinet.

Or Big Pharma who made out like a bandit by giving to and supporting Obamacare and receiving regulation preventing generics from competing with them.

Or the waivers given to Big Labor on Obamacare. And on, and on, and on….

You know what I like about the whole Rove/Perry thing?  How liberals keep pushing this and expect to make something out of it.  They spent 8 years telling us Rove was Satan’s mistress, but now we are supposed to believe he is some honest political broker just looking out for the best interest of the country and trying to save us all from the horrors of Rick Perry?  Umm..ok, sure.

  • Moosenuts99

    He knows Parry will LOSE

He’s trying to save the Repiblican party

If he got rid of the glasses, Karl might pass as that Bizare Foods guy on FN.

  • Valkyrie101

I hate to agree with Karl on anything, but he is right that Perry must address his position on the social net that essentially keeps our elderly voters alive. Perry should do a Rand Paul and just say, “Hey ya’ll, my personal views are distinguished from my political views.”

  • Anonymous

No, you’re supposed to believe Perry and Rove are evil and don’t like each other

    Here’s a shocker!

Obama and Biden hung around with Union thugs all Labor Day weekend. Tonight, union goons will be invited guests at Obama’s partisan jobs speech, sitting with Queen Mooch. The union goon who introduced Obama at one event talked about being Obama’s army and spoke in a violent tone about “taking people out”.

Democrats and Obama’s media acolytes spent this past month calling Republicans a bunch of “hostage takers” and “terrorists”.

    Now is this a coincidence?:

LONGVIEW, Wash. (AP) — Hundreds of Longshoremen stormed the Port of Longview early Thursday, overpowered and held security guards, damaged railroad cars, and dumped grain that is the center of a labor dispute, said Longview Police Chief Jim Duscha.
Six guards were held hostage for a couple of hours after 500 or more Longshoremen broke down gates about 4:30 a.m. and smashed windows in the guard shack, he said.No one was hurt, and nobody has been arrested. Most of the protesters returned to their union hall after cutting brake lines and spilling grain from car at the EGT terminal, Duscha said. The International Longshore and Warehouse Union believes it has the right to work at the facility, but the company has hired a contractor that’s staffing a workforce of other union laborers.Thursday’s violence was first reported by Kelso radio station KLOG.Police from several agencies in southwest Washington, the Washington State Patrol and Burlington Northern Santa Fe responded to the violence to secure the scene that followed a demonstration Wednesday.“We’re not surprised,” Duscha said. “A lot of the protesters were telling us this in only the start.”One sergeant was threatened with baseball bats and retreated, Duscha said. “One officer with hundreds of Longshoremen? He used the better part of discretion.”The train was the first grain shipment to arrive at Longview. It arrived Wednesday night after police arrested 19 demonstrators who tried to block the tracks. They were led by ILWU International President Robert McEllrath, who said they would return.

So, tell me again who the terrorists and hostage takers are. Here’s Obama with McEllrath (save a copy fast, as Google will no doubt disappear this photo):http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_u0uJ_4rg4TU/SVQk4j6bs6I/AAAAAAAALTo/WaYyGjN9teA/s320/q50.jpgSuch a shock that you don’t find stories like this on MediaiteMatters, isn’t it?

  • Anonymous

Stop it.  Let them think it.  It’s only gonna bite them in the ass

  • Anonymous

They can dream can’t they.  They have been hoping to find something like this for 2+ years and they are now pinning their hopes on an FBI raid

  • Anonymous

I don’t think the word “fact” means what you think it does

  • Valkyrie101

And yet Rove was certainly correct that Perry must address his stated position on ss and medicare, and provide reassuarance to voters that he is not advocating deep sixing their social net.

We are not pinning our hopes on Solyndra, it is quite amusing though and it does speak to the abject failure of Obama’s Green Economy….  We are waiting for the main course….  “Fast and Furious”  that will be fun when it gears up…

Hope it happens before the elections though, we want Obama to still be in office when it all comes to a head.

    Obama Compares Republicans to Hostage-Takers

    John McCormack
    December 7, 2010 2:48 PM

During a press conference moments ago, President Obama explained his decision to concede to Republican demands to extend the Bush tax cuts to those who make more than $250,000 by comparing congressional GOP to hostage-takers: ”It’s tempting not to negotiate with hostage takers, unless the hostage gets harmed…The hostage was the American people.”Last week, Democratic senator Bob Menendez said that negotiating with Republicans on tax cuts is ”almost” like negotiating with “terrorists.” At the time, the harsh analogy–long favored by left-wing bloggers–seemed like it may have been an unbecoming slip-of-the tongue for the Democratic senator, but President Obama’s remarks indicate that comparing Republicans to hostage-takers is now an official Democratic talking point.

Perry has addressed his position.  Put it in a book and everything.  You don’t have to like it, but you should do him the courtesy of recognizing that it exists.

Nice post, I expect he will know little more about our economy when he speaks this evening than he did when he made that speech…  Come up with the same crappy ideas, and demand more revenues so that he and his ilk and get down to the business of rebuilding our economy…

    Now I don’t care who you are…  that’s funny…  Obama rebuilding an economy…..

Because of stalkers and flamers such as yourself, I’ve learned that it’s a big mistake giving even minute details of ones personal life on the Internet, so don’t count any any corrections. Just keep on obsessing about a mythical person you don’t and will never really know.

Also keep in mind the damage you cause your side every time you bang on your keyboard. As I said before, it’s mostly because of assholes like you that myself and millions of others are no longer Democrats.

    timb116,
Who is trying to make the definitions of words meet their personal definitions now?
Fact: In December 2009, 52,552,819 received payments from OSADI Social Social Security. In the 2010 Census there were 308,745,538 Americans. Meaning if every man, woman, and child in America held a job the highest the ratio to works paying into Social Security to those receiving payments would be 4:1.
    Please check my numbers timb116.

  • Valkyrie101

His book is more Perry the visionary, he is running as Perry the good old boy republican politician. Like Rand Paul, Perry needs to politically distance himself from his own “personal views” including those he wrote a book about. And Rand Paul prooves that you can get away with that, even with a smirk and a just got out of bed hairdoo.

Its hard for any true conservative to take Rove seriously. I can think of at least four policies the Bush administration was responsible for that should make conservatives blush. No child left behind,Medicare Prescription drug, Steel tariffs, and the support and passing of the Farm bill were all huge federal overreaches that all true conservatives should abhor. This new Republican view is contrasted with Reagan’s belief in limited government and was begun with the likes of George H Bush and later his son. Maybe now we can finally get back to a belief in limited government.

This is how Rick Perry was bought – Mike Toomey”s hiring,(was part of an aggressive lobbying push in Texas by the drug company Merck) who is now running the main “super pac” backing Perry’s candidacy, was retained by pharmaceutical giant Merck & Co., maker of the Gardasil vaccine, which is designed to prevent the human papillomavirus, or HPV, an infection linked to cervical cancer in women. Perry tried to force with a governor’s order that girls as young as 13 get this vaccine! Perry was and is in this big Pharmaceuticals pocket!
