Keith Olbmermann Calls His New Show (And Its Viewers) The ‘Last Line Of Defense’

Video

On the Monday night premiere of his Current TV show, host Keith Olbermann informed viewers that this version of Countdown would be “a newscast of contextualization,” presented with the point of view that the “weakest citizen in this country is more important than the strongest corporation” and that “the nation is losing its independence through the malfeasance of one political party and the timidity of another.”

He added that he, and his viewers, now stand as the nation’s “last line of defense” and must act like it Olbermann then quoted from author Harriet Beecher Stowe‘s profile of Abraham Lincoln, in which she described a “war for principle.”

Please don’t tell me Mediaite is going to become the PROMOTIONAL ARM of Olbermann’s new venture!

Did you see who his audience is? – Take a look at the Nut Roots convention!
These are the cult-like, gutter-scum that make up Olbermann’s viewership.

You know Mediaite will cover every word he utters. No time for a piece on NBC changing the words to the National Anthem though.

    ALEX,
It is OK, dear, that you covered Keith’s opening show. Yes, it is a nasty job, but someone needed to do it.
You chose a very confusing video. I felt like Keith was disparaging the liberals with the civil war prose.

Anyway, good job Alex. Hope all is well with you.

JUST DON’T EVER DO THIS AGAIN !!!!!

  • BatBoy

If I was not mistaken, I believe I saw a commercial for KO on O’Reilly tonight.

Makes sense, they realize no one watches MSNBC any more, so that would be a waste of money to advertise over there. The only logical place is to advertise on Fox. That way they could recruite lots of Hater lefties who watch Fox hoping there will be a tid bit they can write about in their blogs.

I doubt that any of the Conservative Fox viewers would push a button on their channel changer, even to look. We all know what the show will be about. Hate Fox all the time. Night after Night after Night after Night after Night. Then you know who will be promoting it here.,

Next Weeks Monday Show will cover the weekend Fox Shows, then the Monday morning Fox Shows.
Tuesday will be a little different. On Tuesdays show, it will cover what happened on Fox Monday Evening, and Tuesday morning….you can kind of see the pattern, can’t you?

I took a peak and the production looked like local cable access. Really quite incredible that the star of this low level basic cable show is being paid $10 million a year. Olbermann needs to donate some of his salary for a better studio and better sound. Almost like using his grandmother’s basement. Sad, very sad.

  • MediaiteCensorsSux

vomit. If Keith is so against the money makers, where is he donating his millions.

  • BarneyFranken

    Hmm…

Olby speaks of a “last line of defense” in which his viewers “must act” upon a “war of principle”.

Good thing he isnt on Fox News- otherwise this would be called “relentlessly activist” and full of violent rhetoric.

Now that’s a great recap and review of that first show!

Just as I thought – same, tired old bash the GOP & FOX as his last show!

  • felixw

Olbermann believes that the “weakest citizen in this country is more important than the strongest corporation.”

Except when liberals want to prevent the citizen from buying a Happy Meal

Except when liberals want to force the citizen to buy health insurance against his wishes

Except when liberals want to redistribute the citizen’s wealth to pay for pork barrel projects

Except when liberals don’t like what citizen says at a Town Hall meeting

Except when the citizen might want to pray in school

Except when liberals want to borrow hundreds of thousands of dollars in the citizen’s name, that the citizen (or his children) will be required to pay back

Except when liberals want to force the citizen to join a union in order to keep his job

Except when liberals want the court to overturn what the citizen decided via the democratic process

Except when liberals want to dictate the terms under which the citizen can start a business, take a capital gain, pay or collect a dividend (that’s already been taxed once) or receive a bonus that doesn’t meet with the approval of Democrat party hacks

Except when a citizen wants to join the tea party and demand government accountability and fiscal responsibility

Except when a citizen wants to vote at a poll booth that doesn’t have a weapon-wielding Black Panther in front of it intimidating citizens who merely want to exercise their democratic rights

    Etc. etc. etc. etc.

What a laugh for Olbermann — firm advocate of the statism and federal government control of every aspect of our lives– to pretend that he stands up for the individual. Clearly he wants to compete with those liberals over at Comedy Central. And he has started out by giving us all a huge laugh!

  • Sanjay

It’s somewhat difficult to take a person seriously when they have that cartoonishly goofy, new “Current” logo floating in the corner of the screen.

  • david r

This speech of KO’s is more reckless than anything Palin has ever done. All this “war” imagery and “last line of defense.” The need for “fighting the aristocracy.” “Our victory is their doom.” This “last line of defense” talk. So what if a left-wing crazy shoots up a GOP function. Just a random act, or something brought on by violent speech? Wasn’t KO really quick to pile in on Palin for the “crosshairs” talk ?

  • Sean68

Of course times change. And while Lincoln wanted to return the slaves to Africa, the Olbermanns of the world–supposedly out of compassion for working Americans–want to flood the US with as much unskilled, illiterate third world labor as they possibly can.

  • Dem4Ever

Hmmm…”last line of defense” and ”war of principle” indeed.

After the attempted assassination of the congresswoman from Arizona didn’t the Liberal Media and even President Obama call for an end to militaristic rhetoric?  Will Mediaite as a whole and it’s writers individually speak out against Olbermann’s “call to arms”?

I’m sorry, but the visual of Olbernut and his vast army of DailyKos nutsacks being America’s “last line of defense”, is just too damned funny!

  • SteveMG

So, the guy who spends his days on Twitter calling people “morons” and “idiots” and other juvenilia will at night put on his cape and tights and turn into our generation’s version of Edward R. Murrow and Walter Lippmann?

    All to save the Republic.

From a studio in upper Manhattan. The heartland of America.

Keith’s as rhetorical counterweight is under matched by folks on the right… Rhetoric simply resonates with less effect amongst the educated.

I think my favorite thing about Olbermann is how delusional he is regarding the influence he holds.

  • moemaggie72

I guess Michael Moore and Al Gore are on the front lines of their war machine!?! I hope they have big “guns” , cause they will not make it up a hill without passing out. I don’t think either one has ever not had a burger in their mouth, but they can “relate” to the stomped on American that has been pooped on by the evil corporations. Hmmmm, I wonder what corporations have given them both a hefty salary? They are preying on Americans who have been controlled by government welfare for generations. That’s the answer, just give people enough on their plate so they don’t die, but DON’T give them the tools to succeed and be proud of their achievements. That is more “evil” than any corporation ever could be. They want to be elitist with power over people, complete control. Their guise is social justice, but it really means no middle class, only the rich and powerfull and the poor that’s controlled! Wake up, don’t listen to their lies, it’s all deception for their gain!!! They are sick in the head:(

So now Olby thinks he is more important than the strongest corporations? Wait, he has always thought that.

His new show reminds me of the whole, if a tree falls in the forest and no one is around to hear it, diddy.
