Kellyanne Conway Explains How Trump Can Get Around Anti-Nepotism Law to Give Family Jobs
While appearing on Morning Joe today, Trump campaign manager and senior adviser Kellyanne Conway provided an explanation on how President-elect Donald Trump can skirt around anti-nepotism laws when it comes to placing family members on his staff.
Speaking to co-hosts Mika Brzezinski and Joe Scarborough, Conway pointed out that we haven’t experienced grown children with our most recent presidents, thus making this something new.
Regarding the possibility of any of Trump’s children serving in his administration, she stated that no final decision has been made. However, the veteran pollster said that the anti-nepotism law that surrounds presidents hiring relatives to White House posts has an exception.
“The anti-nepotism law apparently has an exception if you want to work in the West Wing,” Conway noted. “Because the President is able to appoint his own staff.”
She continued, “So, of course, this came about to stop family members from serving in the Cabinet. But the President does have discretion to choose his staff of his liking. And so if that actually is true and that legal advice holds, then that will open up a realm of possibilities.”

When Scarborough asked Conway if Ivanka Trump and her husband Jared Kushner are the two likeliest to hold jobs in the administration, she answered that “was a fair assessment.” She added that it would be “remarkable” if they “separated themselves from their successful businesses.”
It was recently reported that Ivanka Trump and Kushner were house-hunting in Washington, D.C. Also, she is apparently looking to step away from her own businesses, while only Donald Jr. and Eric will handle their father’s companies.
