Press Secretary Jay Carney Confuses Sen. Mitch McConnell With Jimi Hendrix Drummer

video

First, the guy from The Eagles gets into it with Chris Matthews, and now this. Maybe he was in a Purple Haze, but White House Press Secretary Jay Carney kicked off Wednesday’s briefing by announcing that President Obama had spoken about the debt ceiling negotiations with several Congressional leaders, and…Mitch Mitchell. Carney quickly corrected himself, to laughs from reporters, and reminded them that Mitch Mitchell was not only the name of the late Jimi Hendrix Experience drummer, but also a guitarist in Guided By Voices.

I once thought that Gibbs had made a similar mistake with Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME), but it turns out the Senator’s real first name actually is Bootsy.

Here’s the clip, from The White House:

I think Mitch might have done well in that courier. Right now his actions are not good for the country. His priority from day one is not reelecting BO. What about social security Mitch? What about Medicare? Medicaid? Veterans pay and health care?

  • Anonymous

“His priority from day one is not reelecting BO”

That is the #1 objective of those who love this country.

And what are barry’s plans for those programs?

He has offered no plan and his 2012 budget was voted down by Dems in the Senate.

  • ImNotBlue

If you believed that Obama’s (or any President’s) actions were actively hurting the future of the United States, wouldn’t your priority be to get them out of office as soon as possible, so that you could change the direction of the country for the positive?

Is it really that hard to understand?

  • The Real Royal Emperor

Not to mention that President Obama is African-American, of course, and not every White man has had the opportunity to be president yet. Chinless Mitch is well aware of that.

what country do come from where the opposition works for the re-election of party in power?

  • Anonymous

    racism drink!

  • thisexists

The King can insult and stereotype white people by the millions, but if you have even one criticism against one black person, that means you hate the entire race.  It’s the way his ‘mind’ works.

  • Anonymous

Ummm…yeah it is his priority. No one on the right wants BO re-elected. If you fix that problem then everything else will fall into place. Get rid of the problem in the White House.

Am I in the right comments section? Isn’t this a post about a mildly amusing gafflet by a press secretary?

  • Anonymous

Ya hoo! It’s a bit early but I never pass up the chance to drink to ignorance.

Ridiculous . Everyone knows Mitch McConnell was the keyboard player for The Strawberry Alarm Clock before running for office .

    “Chinless Mitch”

Why not lend him a couple of yours ?

  • The Real Royal Emperor

    That’s actually funny. Thanks.

  • The Real Royal Emperor

    No time for amusement here.

It is a poignant time for me as well. A part of me died with Jimi.

  • thisexists

The left has repeatedly told us that verbal gaffes are a sign of stupidity.

In honor of Mitch Mitchell, “If Six was Nine”.

White-collar conservatives flashing down the street

Pointing their plastic finger at me.

They’re hoping soon my kind will drop and die,

But I’m gonna wave my freak flag high . . . HIGH!

Do you realize that makes no sense?  Did you see the part where I said, “or any President’s?”

Or is throwing an irrelevant race card really your last resort… and the best you can do at the moment.  Perhaps we shouldn’t annoyed when you guys say stupid things like this… perhaps we should be sympathetic.  You obviously can’t come up with anything substantial, and keeping your mouth shut would just go against character (although, I thought you were still ignoring me).

    Poor Royal.  Poor poor guy.

Yet the GOP plan is to send grandma to the insurance market. Why do you hate yourself so much? Do you think anyone would give a 70yr old a coverage?

  • Anonymous

From day 1? day 1, before getting anything done. Use your sense.

  • The Real Royal Emperor

Bubble Gum Music. That’s makes so much sense.

  • Anonymous

What happened to common interest i.e. doing god by the people rather than corporations.

  • Anonymous

Duh! The problem was Bush and the GOP, Who conveniently turned a surplus into a massive deficit. Why are you guys proud with your lack of insight in history, its almost like a badge of honor for ya.

And “Buddy Miles”.what happened to him?

“Leader Pelosi” is the biggest mistake that Jay made.

Well, it’s sure a good thing Obama has fixed all those Bush mistakes…

    Oh wait.  Nevermind.

  • ImNotBlue

Who’s talking about “corporations?”  You gotta get off the talking points, they’re confusing you.

And again, doing “right by the people,” may entail making sure that the obstruction in the White House, isn’t there.  This is true for both parties, isn’t it?

  • ImNotBlue

Really?  So the left wasn’t unhappy and angry with Bush from Day 1?

Where you not there for “Day 1″?  Or do you simply not remember?

  • ImNotBlue

So your statement on the alternative plan is… to talk about the Republicans plan?

Not a big vote of confidence there.

  • The Real Royal Emperor

Yes. I thought the singular possessive usage was odd.

  • The Real Royal Emperor

I gave you a “Liked” for such an inane post. You seem to forget W was appointed president after having lost the popular vote. Of course, people were unhappy. By contrast, President Obama won by a significant majority and a bl*w-out in the EC.

When you have no facts, make something up.

One, the one proposed plan does NOT affect current recepiients.
Two, Insurance companies would have to provide coverage for all just like Barry’s AHC bill requires.
Three- I asked you about Barry’s plans and  you changed the subject.

  • Anonymous

Yes, your racism burps forth yet again.

When will you have a point other than that  which is on your benighted head?

  • Anonymous

Contrary to your rabid desire, America was founded on on the idea of
and continues to function as a meritocracy. Success is based on one’s
    skills, knowledge, industry and assiduousness.

But what your and your ilk desires is a society where everyone gets the
same and where preferment is based on how long you have been around.

There are other countries that promote that and they are all very bleak.

  • Anonymous

Sorry- the 22nd amendment prevents Bush from serving 3 terms as much as you wish him to do so.

Barry was well aware of the situation we were in- are you saying he
was not?- and he protrayed himself as the person to rectify the
    problems.

He has been nothing but a dismal failure.

  • Anonymous

That 70 year old just died while you were fighting with a liberal about how much she should get. Oh well. It’s a shame she voted Republican too, I guess we see how well that worked out for her.

  • david r

Right on, bro.  I was on the 18th row for his show in the coliseum in houston about a month before he died.  I love moon turn the tides . .

Mitchell ought to go see Bristol’s doctor.  She looks great, though a little like Jay Leno.

So whats new, this white house’s normal state is confusion, since the day he took office, Obama has had socialism and communism confused with capitalism.

  • Jon Weiss

    Been delusional for very long?

  • Jon Weiss

The only plan Obama has voiced so far is to raise taxes and spend more, kind of like a military commander fighting a battle that is already lost but sending more troops to the slaughter in a vain effort to stave off defeat.

  • Dik Gozinya

Wonder if Carney and O-Mao-Bama don’t have some of the most righteous ‘sheesh and blow, y’know?
